I truly would be a beginner. I check out the cowl pattern but don't know what CH means and how to do it. Any tutorials on that?

I don't think there is a specific yarn type, but worsted weight would probably be best.

Ditto to the after Christmas comment...i would like to (i need to improve my crochet skills and something simple would be good practice) but i have too much on my plate now.

i have only been crocheting for 3 weeks and made the cowl, it was very easy to do! I finished it in one night..
