Description:

For this swap, you will crochet a granny square of at least 5 rounds. You may use any yarn you want and any gauge of hook. This means you can use any color, weight, texture, etc. of yarn and since you're using any gauge of hook, the granny square you make may be smaller or larger than the one you receive from your partner. Please note, however, than all granny squares should be a minimum of 3" on each side.

This will be a traditional granny square design (see this link for a typical pattern). However, you can make it fancier if you want to.

To join this swap, you must have a rating of 4.9 with at least 5 real mail swaps (type 2 and/or type 3).

To recap, here are the requirements of the swap. Anything above these requirements are allowed, as long as it meets the minimum requirements.

  • A basic granny square measuring at least 3" on each side is to be crocheted and sent to your partner. You may use any yarn and any gauge hook you'd like and you may make this as large as you'd like as long as it meets the 3" minimum. Use the provided pattern or make one fancier if you'd like.

  • The granny square should have a minimum of 5 rounds to it. You may add rounds if you'd like, but the minimum is 5 rounds.

  • Rating of 4.9 and 5 completed and rated "real mail" swaps required to join and not be dropped prior to me assigning partners.

  • USA only - feel free to create an international version of this swap if you'd like.

  • If this swap goes well and gets a lot of participation, I'll make one granny square swap every month.

Would it be wrong to ask for a specific size so I could join them together if I wanted? I would not want a 8 inch block if I need blocks for a 6 inch size one I have started.

@LilyM - I'm going to make another swap for specific size - receiver's choice. It will be up next month. But for this swap, if you want to ask your partner for a specific size, then you can, but it is still up to them if they'll honor the request.
