Description:

I am a writer, though I am not an avid letter writer. I cannot be the only swap-botter who enjoys the creative art of story telling. Painting a picture with words that nobody else can see.

I thought it would be a wonderful idea to host a group of swaps dedicated to story writing and sharing that story with others.

I have never hosted a letter writing swap before but dont let that put you off, the idea for this swap is to write a fictional story for your partner.
- The story is senders choice and should be something they are comfortable with writing.
- The story should be a work of fiction.
- The story must be hand written
- You should aim for at least one side of A4, though writing more is encouraged greatly.
- Feel free to illustrate your letter, but this is not a swap requirement, your partner may appreciate a picture or two. - I will only be accepting swappers with a clean 5 rating for this. And no none rated swappers as I expect a great deal of thought will go into the creation of these short storys.

The important part about this swap is that you will tell a tale. The subject is upto you though please please make sure if you write a story about Bambi becoming a Pirate, ensure your partner isnt agaisnt Deer Swashbuckling (I hear its a major problem in the south!).

If you have any questions
Please ask away and I will try and answer as soon as I can.

Will you accept comics? ...English is not my first language.

For this one - I shall have to decline on comics, I am an illustrator RL and I know the effort that can go into a comic can often be days and days of work, but I think for this swap I shall have to say there has to be the minimum requirement of writing.

However I do still encourage people to include illustrations and pictures.

Why handwritten? It's my belief that friendly letters are nice in handwriting-- if it's legible -- fiction writers write on a computer or typewriter if anyone still has one. My own handwriting is so bad I don't wish it on anyone and I've written on computer for years and years. Everyone on swap-bot at least has access to a computer.

My logic on handwritten (bareing in mind this is my first time hosting Letter writing swaps) - I was slightly concerned that there was a chance a story could be copied and pasted from the internet, I know that's the sort of shady behavior we wouldn't expect on swap-bot. It still has an unhappy tendency to happen from time to time. Even if this happened a hand written element to the swap would mean that some effort has had to happen to succeed on the part of the writer.
The other thing I was worried about was that folks could end up with a fairly soulless sheet of A4 printed out and little else, which if someone were to go bare bones and minimal requirements, could happen.
I am sorry if the hand written part limits you Junemoon. I would be glad to arrange an extra swap with you if you still want to join in (and would lift the hand written part for our swap).

I agree with junemoon it would take to long to write a story by long hand.

I will not join the swap because of the handwriting element. However, I would say that worrying someone will copy a story seems a bad attitude. Not that many people join writing swaps, those who do want to write a story or letter or whatever. This isn't school, I don't think "cheating" should come into the consideration. And ratings and hearts are without value beyond swap-bot.

Perhaps it is paranoia on my part - But I have seen many attempts to do the absolute bare minimum by swappers in the past and I feel that this is the right balance for me for a public swap.
Sorry you do not wish to join in with this swap June and Alice, the offer still stands if you still like the idea and if either of you would like a private swap.
