Description:

As before: • No smaller than 2.5" or larger than 10" (not including tail feathers!).Anything smaller than 2.5" is just too small, I think, and larger than 10" gets a bit overwhelming (and more expensive to mail!).

• Made with whatever materials/mediums you prefer-fabric, paper, yarn, metal, etc., etc. !

• Please be sure your bird :

has a hanger of some sort

has a beak and wings separate from its body (not the beak-I mean it should have a beak!).

is sturdy-so use some sort of padding in between the fabric or paper layers if you are using one of those materials.

has a word of encouragement/positive thinking ie "dream", "fly".. attached somehow. This can be in whatever form you like-a charm, handwritten, embroidered, etc.

has a tail

is something you will be proud to send (as if I need to say that!).

Because these are not dotees they do not have to have a tail in the manner of a dotee doll. Their own tails will suffice! :D

Most of my birds have been made with a template from a sewing book, but I have recently found some absolutely delightful free bird templates online just by typing in "free bird templates" or similar. Free form birds are also always welcome. :)

Sorry but why most of the swaps in yhis group are for USA only?! It`s so unfair...

RadicalRecrafter 03/14/2014 #

@Alias I know, I am sorry. :( The cost of postage is so outrageous most people here in the US would not be able to afford to send overseas (including me!).

Any of the other officers in the group who are interested are welcome to host an international/European version. :)

Shipping is very high here in the U.S.once your letter/pkg leaves the country.

RadicalRecrafter 03/25/2014 #

@doulakk Isn't that the truth!? I have often found myself paying more for shipping than the actual package cost me to make or put together! :(

I have found lately that if i send something in a regular envelope or card size envelope and it's relatively flat the postage is not so bad because it goes as a regular letter. but when you use any envelope larger than regular card size (including the brown manilla envelopes with the clasp) then it's considered a package and that's when they charge a lot. most cases the postage is more than what's in the package. i don't mind hosting an international version as long as we would make it something that would fit flatly in a regular greeting card size envelope. i don't know if that helps or not.

Thank-you @slewis234 :) I wa srather thinking that someone who LIVES IN Europe might like to host a version of this swap. :p Of course, now we hear that there may no longer be the group after our swaps are all completed. :(
