Description:

This swap is for those of us who LOVE to swap, and particularly helpful to those of us who like to do flat mail swaps. It's also newbie-friendly, and I will angel if necessary. You must have a 4.9 rating or higher (or no ratings) to participate.

As a profile surprise, a lovely lady made me a bunch of personalized swap cards. I was enamored. Swap cards are on cardstock, about 2 X 4 inches, and include a place for the name of the swap, your name, and your partner's name so that they can be sure to remember to rate you. Since the backs are blank, you can also use them to write a little note to your partner. I love to include them in all of my swaps.

My only problem is that I haven't been able to use many of the adorably decorated cards since they have parts that stick up/out and I do primarily flat mail swaps and don't want to pay postage for non-machinable items. In contrast, if you have a totally flat swap card, you can include it in any type of swap!

Here are the requirements:

  1. You will have one partner for this swap

  2. For this swap, you will choose 3 of the themes in the list below for your partner to make and decorate personalized swap cards for you. This way, you're sure to get something you'll enjoy and use. Please post your choices in the comments below before the swap begins.

  3. You will make your partner 1 dozen swap cards

  4. The swap cards must be flat mail friendly-- so no embellishments which might create a lump in the envelope and make it non-machinable

  5. Swap cards will be 2X4 inches, made out of cardstock,
include the categories (in any order): Name of swap: (leave blank) To: (leave blank) From: (include your partner's swapbot name, or leave this blank), and be blank on the back so that your partner can use it to leave a note if desired

  6. You will decorate each of your partner's swap cards. You may decorate cards using 1, 2, or all 3 categories they chose. You will have one week's time to create and send the cards, so please be sure you're able to do it in that amount of time before signing up.

  7. When you receive your cards, as long as they meet the above requirements (are flat mail friendly, in a theme you chose, and include spaces for the swap name, your swapbot name, and your future swap partner's name), you should rate your partner a 5. Hearts are, of course, at your discretion.

Please note: this is a type 3 swap because of the crafting component. Feel free to get as creative as you like with your partner's theme(s), as long as you keep it flat!

If this swap gets a positive response, I'll host a second round with two partners each.

Here are the themes/categories to choose from:

animals
books
bicycles
birds
butterflies
fairy tale
floral
forest
kawaii
ocean
polka-dots
postal stamps
rainbows
stamped images
steampunk
stripes
sweets
travel

Thanks for reading, and I hope you join in! รขโ„ขยฅ

For my three categories, I choose fairy tale, postal stamps, and travel. Thanks!

I have seen swap cards listed on some profiles and wondered what they are. Now I am excited to make some. I can't join this swap but if you do a second round I hope to join in.

Thank you for clarifying what these are!

I choose butterflies, fairy tale, and books...and though it's not listed I ADORE zentangls! ;-)

2bneat: Thanks! I don't know if there's a standard size, but these seem to work well. I do plan to do a second round, and Babsmomof5: Thanks for the suggestion, I hope to include more categories next round. I can include zentangle then :) . I thought of including a washi tape category, but that's not really a theme, more of a material to use. If anyone else has themes they'd really love for future swaps, please let me know! :)

Just a quick question: I make a lot of digital items as I am a blog designer, are we allowed to make them on the PC and print them off onto cardstock?? If not, thats fine, but I know I can make some nice ones on the PC.

joannahannah 07/11/2014 #

My three themes are kawaii, polka-dots, and sweets

phillaine 07/12/2014 #

jesslynne, That would be absolutely fine! Digital art is art, too, of course, and can be VERY cool. I know I'd love to get some nice quality printed swap cards, and they'd be perfect for flat mail swaps!

Everyone, feel free to get creative with your format, as well. For example, you could have something like:

A swap-bot swap from (your partner's name)
To:
Name of Swap:

or make it as simple as

Swap:
To:
From:

Whatever suits the design of your card is fine, as long as it includes those 3 pieces of information and room for a little note on the back. Feel free to use lines or lined paper on the back, too, or design it as a designated place for a note if you want to be extra creative. It's all up to you. :) Enjoy!

If you enjoyed this swap, the second round is now available for signup, this time with 2 partners! :) Thanks to you all for making it great. รขโ„ขยฅ http://www.swap-bot.com/swap/show/180350

p.s. please remember to get them out in the mail and mark your cards as sent by tomorrow so I know they're all on their way. Thanks so much!
