What better way to brighten your winter holidays than swapping an ornament with other collagists. For this swap, make an ornament using collage and any other techniques that you enjoy. Please make the ornament ready to hang and on sturdy backing. I'm envisioning a flat ornament but if you wish to make something that is mailed flat and then assembled into a more 3D object upon arrival, that's up to you. Also, I'm thinking paper but you can certainly incorporate fabric and other things ... This will be sent in an envelope. Think circles, triangles (trees), stars, animals, fluffy snowflakes, clouds, squares, etc., etc., etc. I hope the timing will allow us to get our ornaments in December. This is sender's choice but please be considerate. Don't write Happy Hanukkah on an ornament for a Muslim partner (unless it's an inside joke). But, you know what I mean. Feel free to post a REQUEST below regarding something specific you're looking for in an ornament. For example, if you have all blue and white decor - you can ask for that. Maybe you have a sci fi themed tree (guilty) or cats wearing hats or whatever - go ahead and indicate that. There is no guarantee that your partner will make that for you but it might help guide them. Please let me know if I missed anything ... Disclaimer of theft ... I am totally inspired by (I stole the idea from) a swap that bluemonkeymama posted over in the Print Shop Group. If you're into printing, go check out that group! One fun example (stolen from bluemonkeymama) of an ornament using collage is HERE I'm sure you can come up with many other examples. |
