Description:

I thought it would be fun to make up a swap CD full of animals and while I was going through my iPod to see what songs I could put on an animal mix I came across loads of bands and singers with 'animaly' names so... Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to make two CDs for your partners. The first with animal songs, the second with animal artists.

Lastly - how cute is Batdog above lol?

Rules: -

-Two CDs for each partner

-Minimum 14 tracks

-Jewel case not necessary but must have some sort of cover and a track listing

-Sender's choice but if your partner HATES a particular genre then try to be accommodating

-Newbies with filled profile allowed but contact me first. 4.8 or above for seasoned swappers with NO no-sends in the last 6 months

-All swaps to be sent by the date above. If you're going to be late, let your partner know.

I will check all participants and if there is anything I'm not happy about I will ban as I want everyone to have fun on this swap.

Does the word "animal" count?

Would Cat Stephens count as an animal artist? What about Landon Pigg? Just glancing at my iTunes I easily found 14 animal songs, but the artists is a little harder.

I'm finding a lot of birds and monkeys...and Byrds and Monkees.

I would say you can go with things like 'animal' or 'beast', say, if you were really struggling to fill the CD. Cat Stevens and Landon Pigg are just the thing I was thinking. Doesn't have to be correctly spelt, so The Byrds and Monkees like Moominbrooke suggested would be ideal. :)

Wow, that's pretty hard. I couldn't come up with enough songs with animals:( I only had 7 with animals in the title and the only artist I had with an animal name was Stephen Wolf. I must have a shallow collection compared to everyone else. I have about 350 songs. I don't mind buying extra songs, but hate to buy them if I really don't like it. I guess I will just watch this swap for now.

Aw that's a pity needlewings. I guess alot of these theme swaps do depend on luck of the draw and also having a reasonable sized music collection. Maybe next time... :)

needlewings, take a look at payplay.fm. They have something called "karma tracks" - about half the albums have 1 track that is available for free download (if you are a registered member, and you register for free). I have a large collection of payplay tracks by this point, and included some on the last CD swap I did. I have found new artists I like this way! Another place to look is amiestreet.com - tracks start out free but go up in price as more people buy them (popularity increases value). Note that both of these carry lots of "indie" artists, not the mainstream people with big labels.

What about imaginary animals, like dragons and unicorns? (I have 4 songs with dragon in the title...)

Sorry for the delay in replying. I know it's to late for you to join but figured others might want an answer. I'd say mythical creatures are fine but same with most music swaps - try not to fill the CD with the one type of any animal - imaginary or not. :)
