Shadow puppets! Did you ever make a shadow puppet theater as a kid? Well, now is your chance to do it -- or do it again. Find a fairy tale, short story, or song with characters that appeal to you -- or write a sketched-out story of your own (does not have to be hugely detailed). Then make 4 shadow puppets to play out the major scenes. You do not need to include the sticks to attach them to, so that they can be mailed regular rate in an envelope. Puppets may include joints if you like, but this is not necessary. Mail the puppets to your partner, along with a copy of the story, a link to the story online, or the title/ author/ etc of the book you were inspired by. When you receive your puppets, get out your chopsticks, a lamp, and some white sheeting in the doorway or over a large frame, and voila! Instant shadowy story. Audience participation strongly encouraged! Long signup and creating time due to summer and the beginning of fall craziness and also so that you can find a great story to share. Open to all ZMACS members in good standing of course! Above all, the goal is to have fun. Here are your tutorialspirations: Good ol' Pinterest, check out the Star Wars puppets in a galaxy long long ago, make a shadow puppet theater from a cereal box, a puppet theater for those with a few wood tools -- and some ideas for using Cricut machine templates for puppets, a shadowy squid!, a nice little tutorial featuring transportation puppets, Halloween themed puppets, a tutorial for simply jointed puppets with hole-punched features -- very cool idea, muskoxen, polar bears and dinos -- oh, my! Oh, then there is the dessert is better with shadow puppets party-planning idea, more Pinterest, artistic birds, and finally a modern retelling of the Gingerbread Man. Fell free to post more below!
