In this swap you will knit or crochet one special piece of jewelry for one partner. Over the past year, I have discovered several methods of integrating my love of jewelry making and beads and my love of knitting and crocheting. You may have tried some of these methods, or you may be new to the idea, but it is so much fun--and the idea of this swap is to be creative, to let your imagination go to town! Don't be intimidated if you've never tried to knit or crochet jewelry--the techniques run the gamut from the very simple, for beginners, to more elaborate for intermediate or advanced. The most beautiful jewelry can be made very simply. Some ideas for techniques: *knitting or crocheting with thin-gauge wire to make bracelets, necklaces, or rings. Wire-knitting link note: you can always experiment with free-form wire crochet to great effect, even without a pattern. *knitting or crocheting with beads and string to create bracelets. 1. Link to a simple pattern for a crocheted beaded bracelet 2. Link to a totally inspirational simple pattern for a "bead soup" knitted bracelet 3. Link to a more ambitious knit bracelet--I've made many of these myself, and they're super-fun but a bit time-consuming! 4. Link to a tutorial on bead crochet ropes *Knitting or crocheting with yarn to create flower brooches. 1. Link to a pattern for beaded flower brooches 2. Link to a large selection of crocheted flower patterns--add some beads and a pin, and you're good to go! *Knitting or crocheting beads which could be made into earrings or a necklace. Details: This swap is international; postage won't be too high. You must have a 4.9 rating, and absolutely no no-sends anytime recently. You should be flexible about what type of jewelry you receive--with the exception of earrings. Let us know in the comments section what colors you like (give some choices) and whether you have pierced ears! I hope you'll join! Feel free to pm me or post any questions below. |
