Description: | |
In this swap, we are aiming to accept ourselves at a time of year when this can be even more difficult than usual. Let's enlist the help of the Swap Bot community. The swap has three parts, only the third of which has a swap aspect. The first is to accept others. By joining this swap, you pledge to refrain from all comments or actions that could make people ashamed during the holiday season. You promise not to police anyone's food, clothing or lifestyle choices. Phrases such as "s/he shouldn't be wearing that" or "don't you think you've had enough?" are forbidden. The second is to accept that this is a season in which food and drink play a large role, and that we may enjoy this without guilt. By joining this swap, you pledge to refrain from value-based comments about food and drink. Phrases such as "this cake is sinful but tasty" or "I'm going to be good and only take one" are forbidden. The third is to look after yourself, and to help you with this part, you will send a short letter or notcard to your partner telling them how you plan to do so. For example, you may plan some great comebacks for when your family criticises your weight gain, like they do every year (tips here: https://danceswithfat.wordpress.com/blog/ ) or even decide to avoid your family altogether. Perhaps you will pledge to avoid all weight loss articles for the entire month of January or to give up weiging yourself. Maybe you will wear that gold lamΓΒ© dress that you love but your parents-in-law hate. Let's have a shame-free holiday season! |
