I am a beginning poetry writer and what I have discovered is that I really love narrative poems. I like telling stories, and poetry gives me he chance to use words in exciting ways. For this swap you will have the whole month of April to write a narrative poem about anything you want, as long as it tells a story. It should fill about a whole page. Narrative poetry is a very free kind of poetry, you can write it as you like it, there's no set technique or schedule you need to follow. It doesn't have to rhyme! So it's great fun to explore poetry this way! Powerpoetry.org has a great page explaining everything about Narrative Poems. I'm going to quote a few things here. "...modern narrative poems often have very free rhythms and no rhyme at all, so there is some wiggle room! However, almost all narrative poems contain at least one main character and tell a story that has a beginning, middle, and end." "A poem can be a snarl, a shout, a whisper or a cry, so pack it with feeling." "Narrative poems don’t waste words introducing characters or explaining the scene—most dive right in. Try starting your poem in the middle of the action scene to bring readers immediately into the heart of your story." So one narrative poem to one partner. I am asking for about a page long because you're telling a story, explore your idea to the fullest! And you're writing poetry, with line breaks, so it won't be that many words all together. No worries! Beginners welcome! Try something new, its going to be lots of fun ^_^ I can't wait to start writing! If you have any questions, let me know! |
