I've always wanted to participate in a book club, but I don't really like talking in person and the discussions are too big and bulky on Goodreads. I think this will be a simple way to get the book club feel without most of the stress. The book for March 2017 is The Outlaws of Sherwood by Robin McKinley. You'll read this book and write about a page (8.5x11) of thoughts, quotes, ideas, whatever you want. Feel free to take notes while you read, or you can write the analysis/review after you have finished the book. Please refrain from writing just a synopsis of the book: remember, your partner has read it, too. You can complete this challenge right now and mail when the partners are assigned. I'm only picking the book this month to make things easy to start. Ideally we'll all have a say in what book we read. So, when you sign up for this swap, please leave a comment recommending and/or voting for what we should read in April 2017. When I assign partners, I'll check here to pick the book for our next "meeting". Fiction and nonfiction books are welcome. If necessary, we can split into two clubs at a later time. If you find any problems or want to offer any suggestions with the structure of this book club, feel free to leave a comment or send me a message. I'm just winging it as this gets started. OH! If you like the idea, but don't want to read the book I've picked, please put this swap on your Watchlist and feel free to recommend a book via the comments. That way I'll know how big the interest is in the idea. This is everyone's club, I'm just the manager. Cheers! Don't flake. I'll check profiles looking for ones that are well filled out. No recent unexplained 1s or 3s. Newbies are allowed. |
