Description:

Greetings! This Deco book swap is for Newbies and Seasoned alike. Just be kind to us newbies, as we are learning the process. If you get a book, it's a 5 please. If you aren't comfortable rolling that way, this may not be the swap for you. US only this time around please. You may make new Deco books, or send established ones, your call

As a newbie, I am totally into the idea of the Deco books, but understand that this is a bit more complicated than other ones so often times we need to get more experience before joining the larger ones. IT IS A COMMITMENT. We all eventually want our books back. If it's not something you want to hang in with, please don't sign up. I can't stress this enough. We ALL want our books back eventually. That's why I will be doing 2 per month. We can get experience, have fun and work out the kinks of the process.

It has been explained to me fantastically by another more seasoned swapbot veteran, so I thought I'd give us a newbies a try at building up some experience by posting two monthly Newbie Deco books swaps. I'd love our seasoned members to join us as well, because you have fantastic ideas and it would be a great learning experience for the rest of us.

COMMITMENT TO FOLLOW THRU IS KEY.

I don't like the idea of anyone getting a 1, so please don't sign up if you don't think this is for you.

Here's how it goes:

Create a "deco" book of your choosing. This can be created with card stock stapled together, recycled calendars cut into pages and joined together with brads, string, ribbon, Scapbook paper connected together...the sky is the limit in creating your "book". Don't make it a huge number of pages unless you don't want your book back for awhile.

Your deco book will have a theme of your choice clearly written inside the first page of your book. For example: "Flower stickers and washi tape on one page" or "Your favorite quote/decoration choice on 2 pages" "Draw me a picture", "Write me a poem" "Stamp me a cute picture"...you get the idea

Again on the inside of your book, ask everyone to include their swapbot name, and date so no one will get your book twice.

You will include your name and address on the inside cover as a "return when filled" so once the deco book has made the rounds, you will get it back.

You will receive (1) partner to send your Deco book to. The partner will follow your instructions and decorate your book. They will hang onto it until the next Deco swap they particpate in, and can forward it on. IF anyone has already decorated your Deco book, you will need to create and send another. No duplicates

Again, once the last person has finished your deco book, they will send it "home" to you.

It may benefit you if you are going to participate regularly (which I highly recommend to get the experience) to create two or even three so if you get a partner who has already decorated the book you have, you can send another one to them.

I will not be Angeling this swap. You must have at least 2 Type 3 swaps, with no un-explained 1's. If you have no Type 3's, email me and we will likely work it out. I want to strongly encourage you to think about it before you join. It's a blast and a half, but it will take time. I just want us Newbies to be able to get into the big ones if you are into that. Please note If you flake, I will not include you in further ones.

If you flake, you get a 1. If you send a Deco book, it deserves a 5. Be kind. If you are an expert, we would love you to join. However if you expect perfection please don't join. This is for newbies to learn and increase our experience so remember we are building each other up.

There will be a 1 week turn around so you'll have time to put things together without pressure. If you have questions holler at me. I hope you have fun, and let's do this! Here is a good place to check out Deco book ideas http://gomakesomething.com/ht/thebasics/decos101/

we can send established books right?

Dsweeny 06/11/2017 #

@Stahlara yes ma'am, absolutely can send established books

Thanks for that link, it's super helpful! Quick question – do we have to label each page with what we want people to put on it, or is it an option to leave it open ended?

And actually, just one more question! Is the "date items must be sent by" the date that we send out whatever deco book we're holding onto from the last swap? Or, is it something else? Just want to make sure I have my deadlines straight! Thanks! :)

@skwerl81 - Hi there and welcome to the fun! To your questions: Generally a deco book has a single theme that you decorate the front cover with, and then explain on the inside of the cover. If you want to have a Deco be "Unthemed, decorate as you like" that is absolutely an option. If you want folks to decorate to a theme you specify, like "Owls Theme", than you have a specific deco that each person would follow when they do their page in your book.

Yupper, the date items must be sent by is the last day possible for you to send it, and mark it sent on the swap. If it's done earlier, you can absolutely send it earlier as soon as Swapbot assigns partners.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to message me here - I'm likely to respond faster :) I will also send an email to everyone participating to let them know the swap partners have been assigned. Swapbot hasn't been doing that lately.

Happy Swapping! Dina
