HOW IT WORKS:

The idea is to swap different bits of yarn (and ribbon and strips of fabric) out of your stash In Candy Cane Colors (such as Different bright reds, Whites, Creams and Pinks) around to multiple people, and in the end we will all have enough to make Rapunzel scarves.

Here is a link to the famous Rapunzel Scarf: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=72581.0

The basic scarf is made from 30 different pieces of ten foot yarn. (Ribbons, strips of fabric, etc.)

To participate in this swap, you will need to send 6 Different pieces of ten-foot lengths of yarn (etc) to five partners. (Total = 30 pieces).

Remember to include your user name in your swap package so that your partner knows who it's from.

Depending on the number of people who sign up, this number may need to be tweaked a bit, so please remain flexible on the matter. You may need to send a little more or less to make everything fair and even.

Depending on the number of participants, we may get to express a few preferences. Please list them below.

This swap is a little different from other swaps in that you will be shipping to multiple partners. The good news is that your yarn (etc.) can fit in an envelope and will weight very little.

I will be an angel for this swap and also I will ban those who I don’t see fit or dependable for this swap.

No Sending wire ribbon or anything that you wouldn’t feel comfortable wearing against your skin

International because it won’t cost much to send

is this just red and white?

I'd prefer just yarn, not ribbon or fabric, please.

Magpieandluna 11/20/2008 #

Today was the first time I had ever even heard of a Rapunzel Scarf and after some craftster.org research I'm totally in! I love candy canes, so this swaps perfect for me. :-) I found a great link with a variation on this: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=67366.20

Instead of braiding everything, she wove the pieces for a more flat scarf, which is more ideal and would be warmer.

From my research I also found this link someone posted on craftster with different weaving/braiding techniques: http://www.virtue.to/articles/braiding.html

I'm really excited. lol :-)
