Description:

Hello swappers! This is my first swap, but I will try my hardest to make sure it runs smoothly!

I've recently been practising making little books or zines for my penpals, and I really wanted to be able to send them to someone but I couldn't find any swaps for them, hence this one!

A few ground rules:

Must be at least 4 pages/leaves
Must include a letter for your partner Must include a small gift for your partner such as tea, washi samples or stickers Could also include a mail tag/questions, this way you can hope for a reply and hopefully gain a new penpal! Make sure to decorate your envelope as well!

Tips

Check out your partner's profile so you can send things they actually want This also means having a well filled out profile to make things easier for your partner No set budget but I would advise no more than $5 worth of gifts especially as postage may cost a little more

I'll start with just one partner each, so that if you've never made a book before there's not too much pressure, but if this swap goes well I'd be more than happy to do another with more partners!

Newbies are welcome although have a well filled out profile or I will have to ban you, I want to make sure everyone is reliable <3 If you're rated, you must be over 4.9, but the number of swaps you've done doesn't matter too much (I know the frustration of not being able to join a swap because you're a couple of swaps short!)

If after 2 weeks after the send date you haven't received your swap, I will be happy to send you a package myself, (just make sure you've contacted your partner first).

A couple of methods for creating the books that I use include:

Simply folding a couple of pieces of card in half and tying with string through holes in the spine.
Glueing two folded pieces of card overlapping to make one long book that folds like a leaflet. You could also attach an envelope on one end to make it a bit longer and it adds somewhere to store things too!
There is actually a picture of these on my instagram @penpalsandbooks if you wanted some inspiration!

Please don't hesitate to message me if you have any questions!

Flipbook and zines are different. Do we choose which we want to make?

starliphx 04/24/2018 #

how big should the book be?

nataliec07 04/26/2018 #

@AliCrafter iā€™m not really sure how to word it i just meant a small handmade book that could hold a few small gifts for your penpal, so basically just however you want to do that! x

@starliphx i would say A5 folded or A6 folded, up to you really, not massive though
