Edited on 5/20/18 before partner assignment - read my last bulleted item (and comment) about glitter tape.

People seemed to enjoy this swap I hosted last month, so let's do it again. :)

A "blind" swap means you get everything ready and seal your envelopes before partners are assigned.

Fine Details

Please read through all of them, as I changed a thing or two from the first round):

  • 2 partners
  • A minimum of 12-15 different washi tape samples to each partner (see "Sending Washi Tape Tips in Group Forum). Depending on the size of your tapes and what you wrap them on, you may be able to fit more tapes per card. Therefore, please max out your card surface with tapes. :)
  • Tape length: 20 inches (50.8 cm) for each sample. (Personally, I wrap 9 times around a standard USA playing card and it comes out to 22.5 inches; it's easier to do that than to measure the length.)
  • Wrap your samples on a shiny surface such as playing cards (or something similar) so the tapes can easily be removed. Please wrap fairly neatly, meaning don't overlap your tapes.
  • No solid plain tapes, but I will allow multi-color solid tapes.
  • No plastic or duct tape, nor Dollar Store (USA) tapes.
  • Include your name and swap-bot ID inside the envelope.
  • This time, please write a happy note inside to your partner - perhaps you'll tell something about your day.
  • Decorate your mailing envelopes with what else? Washi tapes! On the front, please! :)
  • Please reinforce the sides of your envelopes with clear tape. (I've received a few swaps lately where the envelope edges have been partially ripped open and I'm thinking it was because the envelopes are too flimsy. We don't want any of our precious tapes falling out.)
  • Lastly, have fun choosing random tapes for your partners!
  • P.S. See my comment about glitter tape below.

By signing up, it's telling me you are committed to sending on time and rating promptly. We want it to be fun for all !!

Can we put colored Duct tape instead of clear tape on the envelope edges?

ArtyBeth3 05/ 8/2018 #

Sure. Duct tape on the mailing envelope is fine.

Are glitter tapes considered washi? They were labeled glitter washi when I bought them but I know that manufacturers can mislabel stuff. Mine are similar to these: Rainbow Glitter Washi. Just want to make sute. Thank you!

Personally, I don't consider glitter tapes to be washi tape. They are really in a class by themselves. They're pretty and I have and use them, but when I think of washi, I don't think of glitter tapes. But since I didn't say "no glitter tapes in my write-up and it's past due the time to assign partners, I will allow folks to include 1 or 2 glitter tape if they would like - - however this is only if the tapes can be easily ripped with your fingers.
