Description:

One of the things I enjoy the most about Swap-bot is learning about new people and places. Let's show each other something about where we live through our fabric choices!

Here's what you'll do:

  • Purchase 1 yard (36 inches or 91.4 cm) of good quality cotton fabric that represents where you live.

  • Cut your fabric into four fat quarters (FQs). See the directions for making an FQ below.

  • You will send 1 FQ to each of your three partners and keep the 4th FQ for yourself.

  • Include a note in your swap package telling a little bit about where you live and why the fabric you've chosen represents where you live.

Participation requirements

To participate, you must have a rating of 4.8 or higher and no unexplained 1s. If you have a rating that you believe is unfair, please PM me to let me know the circumstances. Swappers with less than 5 mailed and rated swaps, please send me a private message and make sure that you have a reasonably filled out profile. I check each profile carefully before assigning partners. Thanks!

I also expect that swap participants will rate each other when the swap is received. Please take the time to rate and let your partner know that their swap has arrived. If you have a problem getting rated at the conclusion of the swap, please let me know. Happy swapping!

A note about FQs. To make a fat quarter, cut your yard of fabric at the halfway mark both vertically and horizontally to make four equal quarters. The rough measurements will be 18 inches by 22 inches, or 45.7 cm by 55.9 cm.

I hosted the first round of this swap on the Nuts for Sewing group here. We had a great time, and I’m looking forward to this public swap. Come join us!

Love the idea and have put it on my watchlist.

Now I've got a good excuse to go fabric hunting.

I've already been looking and a great fabric i wanted to get and all they had was a small remnant. Hmph! I'm hoping they will get some more in after the new year. It is just perfect! But, if they don't get anymore, I'm still looking.

I was able to get some very nice fabric for this swap on the weekend.

SweetClementine 12/16/2008 #

Yea, @jannikinz . I adored the fabric you chose last time! :-)

When are we getting our partners?

SweetClementine 01/18/2009 #

Partners will be assigned by tomorrow. I'm looking through all the profiles carefully prior to assigning. Thanks for your patience! :-)

Partners have now been assigned. Happy swapping! :-)

Hello, where do I find my partners? It says that I have been assigned 3 but I can't find them. Help, please! :)

Never mind, I had to use Internet Explorer before they displayed...AOL browser wouldn't let me see it. Have a beautiful day everyone! This is gonna be SO much fun! :)
