As I thought this technique was really fun, let's do a round #2. If you had fun the first time, come on out and play, and if you didn't, now's your chance to come on out and play this time. :) [Note: This time we will add an encouraging scripture along with our note on the inside of the card.] Some of you have joined my "pretty paper strips" cards. I'm now calling them paper quilt cards. I did a search on YouTube for some inspiration and found this video on how to make a herringbone patterned card. It's fun. The swap photo is the one I sent to Tere. :) In the video, the woman uses 1/4 inch strips but feel free to use a larger width if you would like. I went with the 1/4 inch in the first swap and liked how it looked. While she uses a tape runner to apply adhesive to the cardstock layer, you could also use an adhesive sheet. [Tip: Full size adhesive sheets can sometimes be found at garage/estate sales, or if you want a smaller amount to experiment with, check your local DollarTree store for a 20 4x6 package in their office supply aisle, marketed as shipping labels.] Additional note: If you need more inspiration, Goggle "herringbone quilt cards" - oh so fun! After you get your herringbone quilt pattern done, add some sort of focal point (greeting or other) to the outside of the card (greeting or other) and then on the inside write a little note to your partner and include an encouraging scripture. Have fun! :) |
