Dear Ladies, I thought a fun diversion was in order so I have decided to create a nice little exchange to get our craft ideas flowing. For this swap we will be making a Filled Bodice (also known as a loaded envelope) for our partner. What is a filled bodice, you query? It is a pretty little creation made from a medium sized envelope ( 6” x 9”) or from a sheet of patterned paper folded into an envelope, that you decorate and fill with lovely things. To create your bodice, hold your envelope in a portrait orientation, fold the top flap in and seal it in place. Next, cut down the middle of the envelope about 3 inches, and gently fold the flaps to the sides to create a little collar. Decorate your bodice inside and out to give it a finished look. Add pockets to the front and back if you are so inclined and tuck treasures into them. Then fill your bodice with at least five things, more if you are feeling generous; things your partner will appreciate. You will find a thorough description in the links below on how to create one of these charming little receptacles, which I hope will inspire you. Do not be limited by the video, but rather let your imagination guide you. Please do review your partner’s profile to see what colours and items will delight her, and do send something you would be happy to receive. Some suggestions of what to include with your bodice are: lovely ribbons and lace, ephemera from our elegant era in a pretty envelope, relevant washi tape or stickers, dainty charms, delicately decorated tags or bookmarks, a charming postcard or a letter set. These are merely suggestions, let your ideas fly and surprise your partner with something gorgeous that will brighten her day. |
