For those of you who are just starting to test out the washi waters or have been at it awhile, this is the swap for you. :)
We will be making 2 washi cards for our partner. In one we will write a note for our partner, to brighten her day. The other card will be for our partner to use for someone else. Please include a washi -decorated envelope for this 2nd card.
Fine Details: (please read all of them before beginning your cards)
- Grab a few rolls of washi tape or some of the samples you've received lately
- Lay some strips side by side on a piece of card stock. If you're making a standard A2 size card (4 1/4 x 5 1/2), your card stock layer should be 5 x 3 3/4. Repeat this step for Card #2.
- In my swap photo, I put my strips diagonally and then added a stamped "hello" saying in the corner. As not all washi tape is created equal as far as stickiness goes, please fold your washi tape edges around to the back of the layer and then adhere the layer to a folded card base. This will ensure that the ends don't peel up as they sometimes do when they are cut flush with the card edges.
- Feel free to use a similar design or come up with one of your own. Adding a stamped greeting is optional. If you want to do all strips with no greeting, that's fine too. Sometimes they look pretty just as they are.
- Decorate the front of your mailing envelope with washi tape.
- Include 4 random washi tape samples for your partner to play with. Wrap each tape roughly 9 times around a shiny surface such as a playing card.
- Once you try a simple washi card, you may be inspired to create a few more and use them for pen pal cards, swap cards, etc.
- Sending 2 cards and 4 samples of washi tape may raise your postage cost. Please adjust accordingly.
Have fun! :)
