Description:

@sassafrass came across an article recently in Somerset magazine about fabric postcards that can be made, mailed and then used as beverage coasters or pieces of art. She thought making fabric postcards might be a fun swap challenge. I concur. Let's give it a go!

There are a bunch of online tutorials, both written and video, for creating fabric postcards. Here are just a few for inspiration:

Zazu's Stitch Art

Pretty Piney

NW Quilted Cat

Kristin Shields Art

Jedi Craft Girl

This, That and Everything Inbetween

Rules of Engagement:

  • Make a postcard using any type of fabric or combination of fabrics.

  • The postcard should be no smaller than a standard 4X6 card, but you can choose to make it larger.

  • Use any kind of needle(s) and thread to create your card. Sewing machines may be used for this project.

  • Make the card substantial enough for mailing.

  • Include a fabric or paper-based backing that can be written on.

  • Write a quick note and your swap info on the card.

  • Pop it in the mail. (You may want to mail it from the post office, just to be safe.)
