Bricolage. I love the sound of it, and I love the reality of it! I was trolling the internets for some swappy inspiration, and ran across some amazing little artworks that piqued my curiosity, so I Googled the descriptive word, and learned that bricolage is "something created from a diverse range of things". Whaaaat? But when you see it, it makes sense. (See swap graphic for an example of bricolage art.) Soooo...I started thinking. How about if we take a "standard" 4x4" firm background, as we do for our journal pages, and cover it with some fairly neutral paper. Then we will make 16 different (bricolage!) blocks, each 1 inch square, and affix them to the background. Of course, I think we need a bit of a theme, but it can't be too restrictive, or there goes the randomness of our bricolage! For this first journal page, let's go with "blue". 16 random little inches with the only common thread being blue. I hope this seems as intriguing to you as it does to me! |
