Please check two threads in our forum pages. There is a sticky about Altered Composition Books and you will find a wealth of information there. Another thread for supplies if you need help to gather goodies for your journal. This is a time intensive swap. There is more than enough turn around time to create a beautiful book for your partner. You should work on this for a few hours per week. You cannot let this go until the last week! If you don't think that this is for you, please do not sign up! I will angel this swap but I really hope that does not happen! Also note that the shipping is going to be at least $7 - $10 This is not a "Cheap Postage Swap!" Requirements include: Front cover altered with your choice of art work or craft. This is to be profile specific. Using Mixed Medium Art, Collage, Patchwork Fabric, felt cover, rubber stamping. Heat embossing…whatever it is that you feel do you best, that’s what should be on the cover. Also, alter: the back cover, the inside of both the front and back cover...the inside of one cover needs a full size diagonal, horizontal or vertical pocket This book is meant to be used by your partner for whatever she wants. You are setting up a go to place for things that she’s interested in . The first page must be a Dedication page ~ write a note to your partner about the journal that you created for them. Divide the book into 3 sections (themes) which are as follows: Snail Mail Profile based Sender’s choice The first 2 - 3 pages of each section will be glued together to form one heavy page. On each beginning heavy page of a section, do your thing. Again, mixed mediums, collage, decoupage… it needs to clearly be representative of the theme. If you are working with heavy mediums, please gesso the page. In each section you must add: 1 journaling card in a pocket 1 pocket for storage of goodies 1 page tip in. (perfect for adding shaped or altered paper clips) 2 Corner tucks 2 senders choice (paper crafting element specific to journaling) Further, every other remaining page should have some small, flat decoration. Washi, stamps, stickers. Added goodies~ they should be specific to your theme. Example: Snail mail goodies can be: letter seals, postage stamps (unused), a “belly band” with writing paper or postcards slipped behind it, mailing labels, return address labels etc If cooking is a theme goodies can be: Recipe cards, recipes, a magazine article Please be aware of the bulk of your book. Only a few goodies are needed per theme. Yes, this can get expensive if you have to buy all of this stuff Please consider taking advantage of RAKS, Tags and Wish Groups to gather goodies! Also, if you have a significant amount of an item like stickers or writing paper sets, you can offer them in the Supplies for Altered Composition Book thread to trade! Think stamped images, ATC Coin punches, ATC backings, embellishments… the list goes on! Think of what you would want to receive. I will be adding links in the Forum thread showing examples of each required item Please, check the threads! There are plenty of videos and tips for completing this project! Please share tips in the threads! If you are on Instagram, please post a pic and use the hashtag #cpgswap. |
