Description:

I am starting to collect cards in the hopes of being able to create a complete frankendeck of cards depicting winter and winter holidays. I hope that you will like the idea and decide to join me!

For this swap you will send 4 standard-sized (poker or bridge) playing cards to each of your two partners. Each card should have a different design on the back, and that design must allude to winter and/or the holidays that occur in the winter. Cards may be new or vintage, but please make sure they are in good condition.

For the purposes of this swap, “winter holidays” include the American holidays of Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Winter Solstice, Kwanzaa, Christmas, New Year´s, Epiphany, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and Groundhog Day. Holidays from places outside of the USA are fair game, as well, as long as they are celebrated in the winter. In general, I´m thinking of any holiday that occurs (in the Northern Hemisphere) from late November until early February.

Depictions of holidays that happen in the winter in the Northern Hemisphere but occur during the summer in the Southern Hemisphere (such as Christmas in Australia or South America) are also allowed, even though the images on those cards might show a sunny beach scene in place of a snowy landscape, for example—as long as it is evident which holiday is being observed.

Religious and secular images are permitted; you should be willing to accept either or both types.

Non-holiday “wintery” cards would include those that have depictions of snow, snowflakes, winter clothes (mittens, coats, snowshoes, etc.), cold weather scenes even without snow (bare trees, for example), polar bears, igloos, and the like.

In addition, cards bearing cold weather-related symbols or words are fine as well. Some examples: a card showing the Icelandair logo, a card from a promotional deck for the Tastee-Freez restaurant, or one simply bearing the phrase “Just chillin´.”

Partners will be assigned on October 20th and cards should be mailed soon after that, by October 27th. A minimum rating average of 4.98 is required to participate, and you should have at least eight completed and rated (as 5s) type-2 swaps under your belt. I reserve the right to ban anyone for any reason. I will angel, if necessary, but please don´t make that necessary.
