hello all! I have noticed that here and in other places where people trade mail. ephemera has kind of become a catch all term for '"paper goods used for crafting' and I am not knocking that but this swap is for the more traditional (original?) notion of ephemera defined as: "things that exist or are used or enjoyed for only a short time" or "items of collectible memorabilia, typically written or printed ones, that were originally expected to have only short-term usefulness or popularity." So in this swap you put atleast 10 items of genuine ephemera (list of examples below) in an envelope and mail them to 1 partner. For the purposes of this swap, things that do not count as genuine ephemera are items manufactured specifically for crafting purposes, so printed images of old ads, tickets (like packs of tim holtz papers) etc do not count nor do things like scrap booking paper, washi tape, and most* stickers. Examples of things that do count (as taken from the Ephemera exchange group writeup): A Advertising images/icons, ads from vintage magazines, atlas pages B Bingo cards, Book marks, Book pages, Book plates, Bridge Tally cards C Calendar images, etc Cigar bands, Cigarette cards, Clothing Tags, Collectible cards, Comic book images/pages Cupcake wrappers D Dictionary pages, doilies (paper) E Envelopes F Found words/phrases Fruit stickers, food stamps, Flash cards G Game cards, Game pieces, gift wrap I Images from books/magazines/etc, Instruction sheets L Labels, Ledger papers, Letters M Magazine images, Magazine subscription cards, Maps, Milk jug lids, Money (foreign), Music paper N Napkins Notecards O Office papers P Packaging, Paper doilies, Paper placemats Playing cards, Postage stamps, Post cards, Price tags, Product labels R Receipts S Score sheets, Security envelope patterns Sewing patterns, Shopping bag images/icons, Stationery Stickers (my name is: price: etc) T Take out menus Tea tags and and wrappers, Tickets, Time cards, Tissue paper, Tourist brochures V Vintage papers (assorted) W Wall paper pieces Wrapping paper This is a senders choice swap but do avoid sending anything that smells (like smoke or mildew) and things that are very ripped or stained, though with older items some wear and tear is understandable. participants must have completed at least 20, type 2 or 3 swaps, have a standing of 4.98 , no outstanding swaps and no 1s or 3s within the past 6 months, If you do not fit this criteria but are still interested just message me and we can set up a private swap, I am always happy to help people improve their scores. I will also angel as necessary but of course contact your partner first. happy swapping! |
