Coming from Scotland originally, Mrs. Leandrea Wallis has many celtic roots and looks forward to the festivities around All Hallow’s Eve. She is a fan of the poem “Halloween” by fellow Scotsman, Robert Burns (1786). She especially loves the Amberleigh bonfire tradition to welcome in the new year. Here is a wonderful article regarding those celebrations. A lot of our present day Halloween icons such as Frankenstein, and the Headless Horseman from Sleepy Hallow were being introduced in the early 1800’s. Rustic lanterns were carved from vegetables, and games played with apples. Let’s make something for our partner to represent this time of year. You may use imagery such as ghosts, cats, bats, rats, the moon, apples, pumpkins and such - just please no gore. Here is a video for our project! Use this for inspiration, you may adjust it to fit your needs and please decorate it appropriately. SWAP Let’s make this fun double-flip-out pocket for our partner. Decorate it in an Autumn or All Hallow’s Eve theme. Please include something in each of the three pockets. Include a note from your character about your favorite thing this time of year; the food, weather, traditions or plans for celebrations. If you have any questions, please comment below. Have fun!! |
