This Swap series will help us dig a little deeper into some of the elements of the Easter story. Read the recommended Bible passages and the thought-provoking blurb below. Send your partner a letter or notecard answering the prompts at the end of this post. There is a little creative writing involved with this series. Get creative and really try to imagine yourself in the passage for this week! If you get stumped, ask the Lord for His inspiration. Bible passages to read and reflect on this week: Luke 19:28-44 (Other accounts of this event can also be found at Matthew 21:1–11, Mark 11:1–11, and John 12:12–19.) A week before Jesus was crucified, he entered Jerusalem in an impromptu parade, a celebration of sorts. In fact, it was so noisy and happy that the Pharisees observing the crowd told Jesus to tell his disciples to put a lid on it. Jesus came back with, “If they keep quiet, the stones will cry out”. Stones crying out—now that would be interesting to hear! What do you think the stones would have shouted or sung at the moment they saw Jesus? Write down your ideas. Read about the Triumphal Entry and continue the action as though the stones really had cried out. What would have happened next? How would people have reacted? Did you have any other thoughts or questions from your study this week? Share your thoughts! |
