Ah...inkbox cards. Why do I love them so much? I'm not sure...but they are definitely greater than the sum of their parts. I've made several of these little inkbox card booklets, following Margarete Miller's little tutorial HERE, and I'm ADDICTED! I hope you also are addicted...because here I go again! This series will be featuring "beautiful blooms", loosely based on seasonal blooms or the "flowers of the month". For this first set of cards (each of the 8 swaps will be for TWO inkbox cards, totaling 16 cards for our booklet. On a 12x12 piece of firm/heavy cardstock, create a masterboard collage, using offcuts and scraps of papers...I make this first layer in mostly neutral colors, because there will be lots of color added on top. Feel free to use rubber stamping, paint splatters, and bits of metallic colors here and there. Cut the masterboard into a total of 16 3x3-inch squares, and round the corners, using a Tim Holtz ink pad container as a pattern. Pop the rounded squares into an envelope or baggie and set aside for this monthly swap; pull out 2 for each swap and create a beautiful finished design (see the swap graphic for inspiration) with each. For this first in the series of cards for this swap, let's create a pair of cards featuring beautiful late summer blooms (sunflowers, zinnias, dahlias, chrysanthemums) OR maybe one with a September flower (morning glory or aster) and an October flower (marigold or cosmos). |
