Specimen slides in the crafting world—especially for junk journals—are a brilliant way to blend vintage aesthetics with mixed media creativity. They’re inspired by real microscope slides but reimagined as miniature artistic embellishments. Please make a minimum of 3 different botanical specimen slides for your partner. Botanical=plant life of all kinds - mushrooms, coffee, tea, wood, cotton, trees, flowers, herbs, fruits, vegetables, etc... For this swap, size doesn't matter! You do not need a die cutting machine to make these. You may use a craft knife or punch to create your windows. You don't need to use any premade cards or inserts. (Swap image is my own.) Here are some inspirational videos: What can you use specimen slides for? Tuck them into art and junk journals (spoiler alert: the next build an art journal together will be botanical!), attach them to gift packages, layer onto greeting cards, collect them as ATCs, make a mini booklet of several specimens, or whatever else you can dream up. Be inspired every day! | |
