Bible passages to read and reflect on this week:

Judges Chapter 13 (The Key Passage is Judges 13:22-23)

Manoah and his wife could not have children. You can imagine her delight, then, when Manoah's wife was visited by the Angel of the Lord and told she would become pregnant! She was told the boy would be a Nazarite, dedicated to God his entire life. Later the couple watched the angel literally disappear, rising up with the flame from their burnt offering to the Lord. At this, they realized this truly was the angel of the Lord! Manoah overreacted and stated that they would surely die because they had seen God. But the reason of a woman came in handy at the time. Manoah's wife reminded him of the great news they had received. Why would God want them to die? He was giving them a son, and also, He had accepted their offering. Their son Samson was born. Manoah's wife proved to be the voice of reason in her family. We should do likewise when our husbands or children are in a state of panic.

Why should we, as Christians, avoid panicking or overreacting? What should we do instead

Manoah's wife was a support to her husband. How do you support your husband, if you are married? If you are single, how do you support your other family members or friends?
