I'd love my pincushion to be made of wool felt. Craft /fabric store wool felt is to expensive. So I buy 100% wool sweaters at the thrift store, wash them in hot water and dry them a medium heat and voila, wool felt :) I have other tips and love to swap pieces- just pm me.

Here's the skinny on what you'll find and where you'll find it at the thrift store: -The mens section is great for basic colors plus they are bigger. -The kids section is always perfect for pastels and stripes. All of the woman's sweaters that shrink, go there :) -In the womans section, I tend to find reds, hot pink, orange, cool blues (lt to med) and ofcourse, cream, black and grey (angora is always a fun find here).

Watching! (I'm allergic to wool, though)

Great suggestions regarding wool sweaters at the thrift store! Thanks, LoriB.

I will do the partner assignment for this swap by tomorrow afternoon. (Not doing it right now -- sent a note to a couple people who wanted to watch this swap. Giving them a chance to join in before I assign partners.)

I just approved a bunch of applicants from the group's "waiting approval" queue, so I've extended the sign-up date until tomorrow. Tomorrow afternoon I will re-adjust that deadline and initiate partner assignment. :)

re: wool sweateers from thrift stores....

It occurs to me to wonder whether used sweaters to recycle into wool felt would be so easy to find internationally... hmm.

Lots of people in this swap! Yay! this will be a lot of fun.

IF YOU HAVE A RESTRICTION -- such as an allergy to wool or a strong aversion to beads and sequins, post it here or make sure it's in your profile so that your partner can respect your needs. PARTNERS, PLEASE DO YOUR BEST TO RESPECT RESTRICTIONS

If you have a preference or request (like igobylorib's request for wool felt or my crazy idea that a penguin or a zebra would be fun!) post it here and MAYBE your partner will be inspired by your idea. But remember, this is SENDER'S choice. We get to create from our own favorite materials and techniques.

I'm allergic to wool, much to my dismay...I didn't used to be...
