Welcome to the first month for our SPEC/FIC snail mail book club! It's Sapphic September & Latine Heritage Month! If you've been looking to get offline a bit more but still socialize/engage with fellow readers AND you love snail mail, this might be for you. Reads are mainly focused in the diverse queer sci-fi, fantasy, horror space prioritizing women/non-binary/trans authors. The organization of SPEC/FIC SMBC will be via SWAPBOT which I have been using for a few months now and really love it. It's a simple site set up for mail swaps. And it also can send you email reminders too so you don't forget! Only your assigned partner will see your address but I would highly recommend signing up for a PO BOX in general. SIGN UP BY: 9/1/26 PARTNERS ASSIGNED: 9/2/26 SEND LETTER BY: 9/30/26 PICK #1, #2, or #3 OF 3 OPTIONS TO READ FOR THE MONTH. Or two or all three! 1. Lakelore by Anna-Marie McLemore 2. Labyrinth Lost by Zoraida CΓ³rdova 3. We Set the Dark on Fire by Tehlor Mejia Write at least one page letter or an entire notecard on your thoughts to your PARTNER about whichever book(s) you chose.
US only at the moment (sorry!) I could open it to international or make a separate international swap if folks are interested after a month or so but mail does get a bit trickier and much slower and more expensive globally. I'm up for it if others are though! If anyone doesn't receive a letter/notecard before 10/31/26, please contact me! I will send you one :) Swapbot works on ratings but please give your partner grace before rating anything other than a 5! Or you can leave un-rated. The ratings are if someone is doing multiple swaps and folks want to know if they are reliable (nobody likes getting nothing!). pw - bookclub Let me know if I missed anything! | |
