Got this idea while trading with yesiyesi. (I got a really neat card from her, and right after I opened the card, my son took it!) So, how about making an ATC for each others children? This is NOT a “children making cards for children” swap. This is an “adults making ATCs for the child(ren) of their partner” swap. For those of you who do not yet have children, this swap could be for the significant other in your life… specially if he (or she!) is a big kid their self! Here is how it would work. Once partners are assigned, everyone will PM the partner that is sending to them with 1) the name of their child, 2) the age and sex of their child and 3) some (read several) things the child is interested in. (Don’t wait for the person who is sending to you to ask! Take the initiative, be friendly, introduce yourself and your child(ren) and tell them you are looking forward to hearing from them!) We could list all the information below this swap, but I feel kinda funny putting my son’s information out there for all the world to see – know what I mean? If there is something else you want to know about the child you are send to, don't be afraid to ask. Good communication will result in good ATCs. Since it is still in vogue to have more than one child, we will each make 3 ATCs. If there is one child in the home, all the ATCs will be for the one child. If there are 3 children in the home, then one ATC per child. If there are 2 children, then maybe make one ATC for each child and one for the partner (or their significant other?). If there are 12 children in the house, wow! But when you contact the partner who is sending to you, let them know for which 3 children you would like to have ATCs. Take into consideration the age of the children you are sending to. You can make the card around one of their interest, around their name and it’s meaning, around good wishes on going back to school…. It’s just about endless. Make sure you give your partner enough to work with when you give them info on your child(ren). Please don’t just say, “My daughter, Sally is 6 and likes pink.” The more info you give on little Sally, the better the ATC will be. “Sally likes my little pony, Alice in Wonderland and has all the Dr. Seuss books memorised. She wants to be a princess when she grows up and loves fairies.” (OK, that might really be gender type-casting, but I am a guy and have only one son… making up stuff for girls is a bit of a stretch for me!) Because we are dealing with our children, NO FLAKERS will be allowed. If I even think you will flake, you will not be allowed to join. (I can see little Sally right now, crying her eyes out because she didn’t get a pink fairy princess card because I let a flaker join the swap!) NO recent 1’s or 3’s or no sends (within the past 6 months). Have a rating of at least 4.75. You must have logged in at least 2 days before the partners are assigned. If I have a question about anyone, I will write an email to them. But if I don’t hear back before partners are assigned, I will not let them join. I am trying to protect the children! Long story short - one partner, 3 ATCs for their child(ren). Information traded through PMs only. If you have questions, contact me. If I have forgotten something, contact me. If you just want to talk, contact me! (But please, no emails telling me what a sexist pig I am because Sally likes pink!) You will have three weeks to complete 3 ATCs, but you do not need to wait until the last day to send. They may be sent out early. |
