CLARIFICATION; USA RESIDENTS ONLY PLEASE! We will need to crochet 2 (7INCH to EACH person) granny squares are to be crocheted only in any pastel or bright colors and edged with black or white..can be varigated, feel free to use up that left-over yarn. You can use any pattern as well! Basic granny square pattern is just fine. This is my first time hosting a swap, so if there is something wrong, please contact me. I am extending the send out date to the end of August as well. I hope we can get a few more responses, so we can have a nice sized afghan/lapghan. Any other questions, please post and I will try to clarify. Thanks! HAPPY CROCHETING! If this is too many to send out, please tell me so and I will try to adjust it..The more people that join us, the bigger the afghan/lapghan. If we get 25 or more members, the size will go up as well. 2 squares to each partner equals 50 squares. 50 (7 in) it will give you an afghan that will measure 8 squares long by 6 squares wide with 2 left over squares..so the more the better. Any more questions, please write. I check this nightly.

hI ALL...I think this will be a fun swap...If we get enough people to do this swap, it will make a great afghan..if not a pillow size..we have 6 swappers so far...pass the word and let's get this even higher...

KarlaKC 07/11/2006 #

I'll pass the word on my blog. Think this would be fun! Also like the 12" square idea!

KarlaKC 07/11/2006 #

Let me ask for clarification on the rules. I didn't realize this until I was posting to my blog about this swap, but are we to send 2 squares to 1 person or to everyone on the swap? After I read it again, I see that it is most likely to everyone participating. Because then you specified if we didn't have many people we might send 2 - 12" squares to 1 person.

I do believe now that this swap is for 2 squares to go to every member, but I didn't understand that when first reading the rules. Maybe a few words might be added that this is a swap to send 2 - 7" squares to EACH participant in this swap? The specifications up above do indicate we're going to have 1 swap partner and so I imagine that's where my confusion came in. But I'm going to post on my blog that this swap is to send 2 squares to EACH member. Please update me if this is not correct!

I just have a quick question, or two. Since we are to use washable yarn, can we use Red Heart yarn? I know it is cheap, but I'm trying to do the 'buy nothing new' thing and would like to use what is in my stash. And, we are just talking about regular granny squares, right? nothing fancy, just the basics? Because, I can only do the basic granny square. lol Thanks! (waiting for a response before I join)

Paula 07/11/2006 #

I'm confused, too. The way I read it, we make two squares and send them to one person. And is the size going to change? I should've read the information more carefully before signing up, sorry.

user2102 07/12/2006 #

Hi all, Let me clarify...if we can get more members, we will only need to send the 2 7" squares to only one person, but right now with only 7 members, that will not give us a nice size afghan, so I think that I will now make it that we send 2 (7 inch) to EACH person, If we get a better turn out, that will change back to only 2 squares to ONE person. It can be red heart yarn, left over yarns as long as it's washable and please no wool. Also, it can be any pattern, even the basic granny..That's all I know how to do as well! Si, I will now make it that we send 2 (7inch) squares to EACH member. If there are any more questions, let me know

user2168 07/12/2006 #

Hi, this is new to me, I would like to participate in your swap. Sissy

user2141 07/13/2006 #

So, I just have one more question...this is an international swap I am assuming then? Won't the postage be quite a bit sending out 2 to every person in the swap? I'm just curious. I would love to join this swap, but I am afraid that the postage will kill me.

user2102 07/13/2006 #

I have clarified again and am making this a USA only swap. I didn't realize the cost that sending out of country would be to many of us including myself. Thank you for drawing my attention to this matter. Debra

user2112 07/14/2006 #

I got dropped from this swap because I'm outside the US and the requirements were changed to US only. Don't know where the person lives who mentioned the cost to mail internationally, but I just wanted to make a general comment. At least on my end of the mailing, international postage isn't all THAT expensive for something as relatively light weight as two grannie squares. I wouldn't have expected to pay more than the equivalent to $2 and perhaps even less, but then maybe I'm wrong about the weight of two squares. I guess my comment is, have you actually inquired about the cost of international mailing? How much will it cost a US resident to mail 2 sqaures to each person in the swap. I should think it would require at least 2 or 3 standard stamps. I sure wish I could have remained in this swap, it really sounded cood.

Well, I am out of the US as well, and I'm sorry, but I cannot participate as well. When you add it up, if they get up to 25 members we would have to send to, yes, it would be expensive, and more then I would want to spend. (if you average $2 per package, you would be paying $50 in all just to send all 25 out)I do apologize, but maybe you could start your own swap. :)

user2102 07/15/2006 #

hi again, I will tell you all that I have received a small yellow envelope with a 10 inch square and US postage runs 83-87 cents per envelope..A 12 inch square costs a little more. just for your information. I hated to boot anyone but some of the people on the swap have limited incomes. I'm sorry!

user2168 07/15/2006 #

I would still like to participate, am in Alabama, so just clarify how many people we have. Sissy

user2102 07/15/2006 #

we only have 7 total so far...so that will be 2- squares to each of the people in the swap. thanks for bearing with this..like I've said this is the first time I've done this.

user2102 07/20/2006 #

I sent all of mine on July 26. If anyone did not recieve them, please contact me and I'll make replacements. From reading the comments here, I thought all of mine arrived, until I got bad feedback. I didn't much like it.
