2010 Book Log - 1st Quarter
Swap Coordinator:kgeslab (contact)
Swap categories: Challenges  Books  Letters & Writing
Number of people in swap:62
Location:International
Type:Type 2: Flat mail
Last day to signup/drop:December 31, 2009
Date items must be sent by:April 5, 2010
Number of swap partners:2
Description:

It's pretty simple. Read. Write about what you read. Send your log off to two international partners.

You'll be sending your partners one reading log that contains your thoughts on all the books you read during the months of January, February and March, 2010. The log can be in any paper format.

You need to jot down the title, the author and give a minimum of a one paragraph description about each book and your thoughts.

Feel free to include things like favorite quotes, the author's Web site, etc.

This swap is about what you enjoy reading, not what your partners may or may not like. It doesn't matter what you read: fiction, non-fiction, graphic novels, Manga, zines, audio books, e-books, children's, etc.

I recommend keeping a computer file for your log so it will be easy for your partners to read and so you won't lose it, but your log can be created in ANY format you like. It needs to be paper and mailed via post. The format is up to you: journal, letter, zine, tag book, etc.

The details:

a) international (sent via the post, NOT e-mailed)

b) two partners

c) minimum requirements: 6 books per quarter; one paragraph about the book. Author, title.

Voracious readers read more than two books a month. So there's no maximum. Your reading log should be sent NO earlier than the 15th of March.

The fine print:

Newbies welcome. Rated players need a 4.8 or higher. All participants must have a completed profile. I ban after the swap closes. As both a swap participant and coordinator, I like people to have positive swap experiences, so please no forum drama. Angels will be provided, but may be delivered via email.

Thank you to Artistic for allowing me to continue this swap!

This is one of my favorite swaps!

The reading log must not be sent earlier than the 15th of MARCH, right?

So this is probably silly, but I've always wished for a couple of extra days after the end of the quarter to send mine out. If I'm supposed to include ALL the books and I finish one on the 31st, how can I include it if I send it out that day? So I'd love to see the send by dates be a week later. But at the same time, I know this is kind of silly, because I could just include any book I'm about to finish and not be so obsessive about this point...

Changed the swap to give you the first few days of April to send. I thought that was a great idea.

i've always wanted to do one of these and always seemed to miss them! I'm glad I caught this one!

DebP 12/21/2009 #

This is a great idea.

All the books I read? That might be a challenge, since I've read over 165 books this year and expect to do the same next year...

17Papergoddess 12/22/2009 #

otterdaughter you need to come out from 'under the covers' more often, lol or is that 'between the covers?' I average about 100 a year as well so this should be fun

APlusAmigurumi 12/23/2009 #

Wow! I can't believe you can all read so many books per year! I average 24-30.

kgeslab 12/24/2009 #

I probably read 50-100 depending on my moods. Glad to see so many in the swap!

otterdaughter 12/24/2009 #

Books don't last long when one reads about 100 pages an hour...

A speed reader. . . I've never known one of those!! I read fast, but certainly not that fast and only read about 30-40 books a year now but read about 70-80 a year when I was working. This sounds like a fun swap and one I've never tried before ~~

washingtonmaverick 12/27/2009 #

I commute to and from work 1 hr each way and often listen to Books on DVD is it okay to include those!? I can read at least 6 books in 3 months no problem but pick up an additional few books by listening to these....

OMG I have no idea how many books a year I read so from today on I'll have to keep count! You guys have inspired me I know I read at least 10 last year because I can remember at least 10 titles but no idea how many for sure because i know I missed some.

blellis99 12/29/2009 #

I know this sounds like I don't have a life, but I read a book every couple of days. The magic of e-book readers! I actually do work full time....

kgeslab 12/29/2009 #

Books on tape or CD are fine - a great way to use up the commute time! Blellis - I just got a sony e-reader for Christmas - LOVE it!!!

camelsamba 12/30/2009 #

Thanks for pushing back the send deadline a few days! :^)

nelliebugsdotcom 12/31/2009 #

I don't have time to read 100 books a year lol but I do read enough for this swap! Haven't written about books in quite some time, excited to get started!

marquettegirl 01/ 3/2010 #

I am in! This is going to be really fun, I think.

innocentprncss 01/31/2010 #

wow sitting here reading the amount of books people read in a year has me wondering how many I read in a year. I think that I am up to 4 for this swap alone...so 4 since the beginning of the year and I have been slacking a bit even. I am pregnant and so sleep alot and kinda lose track of what I am doing sometimes. I always manage to come back though. Now I am going to keep track and see what I can do in a year though when the baby comes, I am SURE my reading time will decrease lol

Reading logs were dropped in the mail today for my partners. Happy reading!
