Description:

Ok seeings how so many of us love doing journals, I was thinking of a sure fire way to make the syystem work a little better and thus not have people getting lumped with a lot at a time or none for weeks at a time.

I am thinking of running this on a monthly basis so there is not a lot of work but being an ongoing thing so we ( If we join each month) after about a year we would have a full journal.

This is the plan.

step 1. everyone buys a book, be in an excercise book or journal etc with at least 48 pages.

step 2. everyone measures their journal pages and leaves a comment in the comments below.

step 3. when partners are assigned you read to see what size journal your partners want and you make 2 partners 2 pages NOT CHECKING THE SIZES AND SENDING THE WRONG SIZE COULD SEE YOU END UP WITH A 3 RATING, THIS IS PROBABLY THE MOST IMPOSTANT PART OF THE SWAP. apart from sending of course :)

A TOTAL OF 4 PAGES PER MONTH 2 to 2 partners.

I will make the swaps signup by the 7th of the month and send by by the 30th of the month, that gives you 3 weeks to make 4 pages each month if you so desire.

It might be a good idea if you intend on joining each swap to write yourself a not of who your partner was and what you did for them so in case you happen to get the same partner later in the year or something.

Any questions or anything you think Ive missed please tell/ask me

come have some journalling fun.

Carol: Great thinking - we should also do a Fabric version of this I would love to make a fabric journal :)

Journals sound interesting, anyone got a link so I can check out some examples? I don't know much about them. Thanks ladies!

Carol this is just a suggestion why not use the A4 folders that have the clear plastic holders , that way the pages would just slide in when we get them back and there would be no much up with size. Actually we have just done one for a friends 60th birthday , all her friends were given a page to do and boy it turned out good, Like nikki I would just love to do a quilt journal each month making a A4 size quilt

I like the A4 idea Bearynice, then we wouldn't get any mistakes in the size department :) I'll watch for now.

neca84 12/16/2009 #

That is a good idea Bev but my purpose in giving the page measurements was that I would love to fill some of my round robin journals that have come hom not full, AND another thought is, I like to touch my pages and I know of others that do too, lol

The A4 idea is good, but for this series of swaps I am keeping it to tips ins, pages we glue in our own journals.

Why not run a series of them yourself Bev Id no doubt join them too :)

Ok so I got a little info off another thread so I think I know what they are now. Personally I prefer the idea of getting pages to the size of my journal that way I can use a nice notebook/journal etc. I like to be able to look at and touch things without having plastic in front of them and smaller sizes just seem nicer than a whopping A4 folder! So I am glad you are sticking with the size requirement thing Carol :o) I am still watching for now, will go see if I can find more info again. Cheers ladies.

I might go with running a monthly quilt journal . just for Aussies

There are some great ideas on Flikr if you search for journal pages. I did a google search first to find some I liked the look of and went from there. I feel more confident trying this after seeing what others have done.

neca84 12/19/2009 #

Yay, thats great girls, lets hope lots of people join :)

glendas 12/29/2009 #

can we suggest the therm or is it whatever cause I would like me on flowers or pigs or angel,. Just let me know if this is a yes or no,. thank you

sweetypiedie 12/31/2009 #

OK I have my journal - the dimensions are 18cm by 24.5cm. (It's between A4 and A5). I am happy for pages to be A5 size if people find that easier.

@glendas - I'm open to themes... I would probably look at my partner's profile and decorate accordingly. I've not done any journal swaps yet.

If anyone wants ideas for mine I love nature, fairies, the environment, cats and positive sayings. To be honest I'd be happy with anything you take time to make me.

glendas 01/ 1/2010 #

my pages are the A5 Art books that we have used before,.thank you,so if you make them a bit smaller then they should glue in just fine,.

neca84 01/ 6/2010 #

I want to finish off a journal that is an excercise book so my pages should measure 16.5 cm X 22cm...

As for themes, it is totally up to the sender if they want to do your themes but it would be a nice gesture, BUT it isnt mandatory ok.

As Big Kev always said......................... I'm Excited !!!!!!!!!!!!!

sweetypiedie 01/ 8/2010 #

I'm excited too - can't wait to get my partners!

mappy 01/10/2010 #
