Description:

This swap is for all you beginner quilt makers who want to get their feet wet.

The block for January is the Anvil.

Anvil Pattern

You will make one block and have one partner.

It is senders choice for the colors. Make sure you use two contrasting colors. Like dark blue and white or light pink and dark red. Please no NOVELTY fabrics. Novelties are Easter prints, kid prints, food prints, animal prints, etc. You can use floral prints and geometric prints. Just nothing that reads children blocks. Only use two fabrics.

Please try your very best to use a scant 1/4 inch seam allowance when constructing your blocks. The finished block should measure 12 1/2 inches when it is complete.

To make it easier for newbies, after you cut out your squares use a disappearing ink marker to draw your seam allowance. Then sew just next to the line, not on top of it. This will make it easier to learn the scant seam allowance. Please pm me with any questions. You can also measure from your needle over 1/4 of an inch and use masking tape as a guide.

Newbies are welcome. Please fill out your profile. Everyone has to start some where. Experienced swapper with a 4.8 or higher may join to. I will be checking profiles. Please no recent bad ratings. You have to be 30 days free of bad ratings.

This is a great swap series! I already have two 12" blocks, and plan to follow through until I get enough for a whole quilt top.

To my partner: If possible, please any colors except orange (I have one), avocado green or other 70s popular colors--my profile has my favs listed.

Thanks!

I have been wanting to put a quilt together for a while. I use to help my great grandmother and grandmother every saturday morning at the church put quilt tops together. I recently bought a sewing machine for my quilting to get it going good. I hope this helps me learn it all a little better and that i am getting in on the first block! Thank you so much for this swap.

I would love red and white - I am working on a top for my 2 year old daughter's room (when she gets into a big girls bed)!
