Description:

Hello! I like finding out about interesting new music, and I'm sure you do too, but since I don't have a CD burner, mixed CD swaps are out of the question for me.

Never fear - MySpace to the rescue!

For this swap, you'll have three partners. You'll make a list of five or more music recommendations, and then for each band you recommend, include a link to a place where you can legally listen to their music online for free. For example, you could link to their MySpace page, or to a video on Youtube or Vimeo, or to their CBC radio page, etc. For each reccomendation, write a little something about the band or about why you like the song. Send your list to each of your partners, and if all goes according to plan, you'll get at least 15 recommendations for music coming to your inbox.

This is going to be sender's choice, so please keep your mind and your ears open. You could end up with electronic music, rock, punk, folk, country, indie, experimental, ambient, anything. And that's not a bad thing! You might discover that you really like something that you never thought you'd like.

Please don't send each other mp3s - it's gotta be music you can find on a website :)

Everyone is welcome to participate. I'll angel if need be. Have fun!

I have a netbook, no cd drive at all, and I love it! So I almost never listen to actual CDs. You can listen to almost anything on myspace and you don't even have to login. Also most artists have at least a few songs you can listen to on their home website.

I have the same situation, egalite! MySpace and CBC radio are godsends for me!

You know you shouldn't copy people's swaps without permission. :) Thanks.

I think it's against the rules. <3

I thought up this swap on my own. If it bears a resemblance to another swap, that's a coincidence, since I didn't see any swaps on this website like this for me to join.

If there is a swap out there that is worded verbatim to mine, then the other person may have copied it from me.

Okay, I just found the swap you think I copied, but mine is still much different from yours, since someone who joins my swap will get five recommendations from each partner instead of one, a short paragraph about each song, and there are only three partners instead of 20. In other words, our swaps are not the same.

Also I don't have the requirement for the recommendations to be a favourite song ;)

It's actually not against the rules, and I don't really see why it matters, I've seen swaps pop up that are pretty much the same as ones I've done, but no worries! A lot of people are interested in the same things, that's why you see SO MANY Alice in Wonderland ATC swaps :P
