Description:

Although we have many swaps set to the air of witches, Halloween, witchcraft and pagan goddesses, Day of the Dead, etc., I didn’t see one celebrating the second harvest or Mabon (The Autumnal Equinox).
Therefore I decided to host an Autumnal Equinox swap.

It was brought to my attention that some may not want to participate because of the pagan origin. But I am not pagan. I am not Wicca. I was raised Protestant and I enjoy many holiday celebrations and festivals that have pagan origin. I celebrate Christmas, Easter, Halloween, Beltane (or May Day) and Walpurgis Night (which is a bit like Halloween April 30 – May 1) but I don’t head for the Brocken Mountains or burn a bonfire (state law). This is just another fun seasonal celebration…. and for me, it makes more sense than Thanks Giving…..but we won’t go there……

In This swap you will gather and bundle wheat, rye or oat, or long dried grasses. You will then add other dried ornamentation such as dried flowers, pods, willow twigs, pine cone, acorn, etc. Once gathered, secure in center with a bow of pretty ribbon

We are making small decorative bundles………."stalk bundlings". Make it pretty…….maybe add some dried lavender or cinnamon sticks to give it a lovely sent……..use a pretty ribbon for that bow. Create something you would want to receive.

I am sorry that this can not be an international swap because what we will be mailing.

You will have 1 partner

……and you will send that one partner one bundle.

Let's make the bundle no shorter than 4 inches and no longer than 12 inches.

It would be nice to upload pictures onto the gallery (whether sending or receiving) so all can see your work. If you are the receiver and your partner didn’t already upload a picture of the bundle you received, might you upload the picture for us? It’s always fun to see everyone else’s take on a given topic. Above all…….Have fun!

As the hostess of this swap, I reserve the right to ban anyone who does not have a rating of 4.7 or higher and must not have more than 2 no-sends within the past 2 months

If you have any allergies, please let your partner know by either posting below or direct contact through the swap-bot.

Thank you dovie...

I wish I had thought of it earlier. But I was busy with other swaps and life in general. It would have been nice to have started it earlier and given more time to it.....perhaps next year.

Mabon is the second of the Harvest holidays. It is a time to recognize what we have and to begin preparing for the coming winter. It is celebrated on September 21.

Have a beautiful day......Robin

For those who think this may be too hard……….it’s not. It is very easy and inexpensive……especially if you gather from you garden or field. But all can be purchased from your local craft store. To give you a better idea of what the bundles look like and to give you some inspiration, check out the bundles I made this afternoon……..I created all 3 in a total of 15 minutes.

Tip: Florist tape (I used brown) makes it very easy to secure the dried arrangement as you pull it together and while you tie on the bow.

And, for shipping purposes, I wouldn’t make it any larger than 12 inches long and would wrap it up in bubble wrap and ship in a box.

Alice has a cute bundle on the way. It is a bit over 12 inches, but that is just how it turned out.
