A Lovely Fairy Tale Ornament

The holidays are fast approaching! What better way to bring the magic of fairy tales to the season than with a holiday craft?

You are invited to create a lovely fairy tale ornament for your partner. This may be made of paper, yarn, fabric, felt, clay, wool, or any other material you choose, just so long as it is neatly handmade by you.

The ornament might be a defined figure, a recognizable object from a story, or even a scene encased in a glass ball. Please be sure the character or tableau that is depicted includes identifying characteristics that give clues to your chosen fairy tale. (That is, a fairy figure could be anything, but a Thumbelina might be sitting on an appropriately scaled flower, etc.)

Please use quality materials for your ornament and include a loop in the design so the ornament may hang. Make sure you’re somewhat adept at the medium you choose as well--this is not the time to try out a brand new kind of craft! Other than that, there are no guidelines or limitations, so please feel free to design and create whatever catches your fancy.

You will have over a one month to create and mail your ornament. Since this is sender’s choice, however, you may certainly start planning your project now. You should receive your own keepsake ornament just in time for Christmas, although of course it will be an item that may be kept up all year round if you wish.
