Description: | |
I have always thought Victorian Cab cards were so interesting and unique but also morbid at the same time. For this swap, you will create 2 cab cards for 2 partner ( meaning 1 card each). This does not mean just get the picture and send that. You have to put it on a sturdy backing and decorate it, make it look nice and elegant. Think lace, beads, etc. You can find these picture on ebay or thru yahoo image search. Do not feel that you must BUY a picture from Ebay to decorate! You can print it out and adhere it to cardstock, you can send the picture to a photo printing site, snapfish, walmart.com, etc. This will be international. You will have 2 partners.. You will send 1 card to each partner. If you do not know what cab cards are...In the late 1800's and early 1900's, when a loved one passed away, it was usually the only time their picture would be taken. So the family would pose their deceased as if they were still alive. Babies, children, adults, sometimes even pets. They would dress them, prop them up, even site with them as if it were a family photo and have their picture taken together. Some are so life like it is hard to tell the subject is deceased. And some...well, it is pretty obvious. PS: Can anyone tell me why I have the "last day to sign up" day as I do? If you get it right, you might get a cookie! |
