Description:

For many woman who come into the craft they come into it to late for a rite of passage ritual known as a womaning, This is a ritual were a girl’s pagan community ( family, magical group, or grater pagan community) recognizes her as a woman. It is a celebration of being a woman and the gifts and responsibilities that come with being a woman. For some this ritual is connected to the girls first moon flow (period) for others this is a totally separate ritual and celebration. For this swap you are to write your partner a note telling one gift of being a pagan woman and one burden. Please, include a description or copy of a maiden to womanhood ritual that you have written, read, or participated in. If you did not write the ritual, please, try to give credit to who put it on or wrote it. In my tradition the girl is given a necklace of wisdom along with other gifts, the necklace has charms and beads on it. Each charm or bead represents a woman at the ritual or important in the girl’s life. Each of the women represented send in their bead/charm and also words of wisdom and a blessing to go with it. When the necklace is gifted to the girl in ritual she takes the necklace to each woman to have the wisdom read to her. For this swap you are to send your partner one bead or charm with a woman’s wisdom and a blessing to go with it.

Requirements:

  1. list one blessing and burden of being a pagan woman

  2. A copy of a rite of passage ritual that honors the transition of girl to woman. That you have written, attended or read. If not your ritual ,please, let your partner know who was responsible for it.

  3. A bead or charm with a blessing or bit of woman’s wisdom

what a wonderful swap.

This is such an amazing idea. I need to figure out if I can come up with something. I'm solitary and never had such a ritual for myself, but neither participated in one. I'm not quite sure how to create a ritual like this for someone solitary (simply because I really have no experience with rituals done in groups). Hmmmh...

The group of women do not have to be pagan who come to the ritual only open to the ritual. I have done both womenings and cronings that had both pagans and others who just truly wanted to honor the person. I love the idea of a solitary ritual between the Goddess and her daughter. i was solitary for 10 years before I joined a teaching circle and know from personal experiences that both solitary work and group work can be very powerful. Even if I don't get you in the swap I would love to see what you come up with naurwen.
