Description:

What shall I do with my 2010 Calendar??

Recycle it, of course!!

If you're like me, you look for fun calendars to mark the days of the year. What I learned last year is old calendars make for great envelopes!!

So, for this swap, take your 2010 Calendar and turn them all into envelopes.

  • 12 Envelopes PLUS use the cover to mail them in as the cover is usually a bit more sturdy = 13 Envelopes

  • Minimum Size: 3"x5"-ish

  • Maximum Size: 4"x9"-ish

  • Perfect Size?? 4"x6"-ish - the perfect size for sending blank postcards!!

  • Basically, envelopes that will go through the postal service without requiring additional postage due to being "non-machinable."

Senders choice since the purpose of this swap is to recycle your calendar. However, if you don't have a 2010 calendar and can pick them up for a reasonable fee, feel free to use them. :o)

Everyone is welcome with a well filled out profile.

Have fun and happy swapping!!

great idea! If only I had a 2010 calendar :(

bruxbaby 12/13/2010 #

How many envies do we make? I assume it is 12, but I think you should at least specify a minimum. Thanks!

Leashah 12/13/2010 #

Aw, I would LOVE to do this, AND get some fun envies! But, my calender this year was handmade by my daughter in kindergarten, so no go!

MIcheals has their 2010 calendars on sale for 50 cents. Great pictures too.

  • I have edited the swap to include the option of buying a calendar. (Thank you, funkhoup!)

  • I have included a quantity for the swap. (Thank you, bruxbaby!)

*I hope everyone has a great time with this swap!

Does it have to be a 2010 calendar or can it be a 2011?? I can't find any 2010 around here :(

lvbabyboomer 12/15/2010 #

I might have to go with a 2011 calendar, but will search at Michaels for a 2010 first.

nativegan 12/15/2010 #

Worst case, yes, you can use a 2011 Calendar. Just remember to save one for next year!! I hope to run the swap again. :o)

I'm concerned about using the cover to mail it. My mail lady glared at me and sighed the last time I used a non traditional envelope. I have sinced changed post offices, but can they refuse to mail it?

lorepuckett 01/ 1/2011 #

@NYRCupcake I don't think they can refuse it. Here is what I found at the USPS website:

Unusual Shapes and Sizes Guidelines
Once a piece of mail exceeds the maximum length, height or thickness of one shape, it automatically gets classified as the next largest shape. In addition, a piece of mail requires more postage when it is a certain shape or size that is difficult to process on mail sorting machines.

The examples below could require additional postage:
รขโ‚ฌยข Square envelopes.
รขโ‚ฌยข Packages larger than 34 inches long, 17 inches wide or 17 inches high.
รขโ‚ฌยข Envelopes on which the address is written parallel to the shorter edge.
รขโ‚ฌยข Packages weighing more than 35 pounds.
รขโ‚ฌยข Books or printed material weighing more than 25 pounds.
รขโ‚ฌยข Tubes and rolls.

The link gives you more info. Hope it helps. ;)

@NYRCupcake - Thank you so much for posting the guidelines!

@NYRCupcake - My past dealings with grumpy USPS workers has only encouraged me to think outside the box. Please don't let them sway you from enjoying Swap-Bot.

I find the best way to is to use a blank label or piece of paper to use for the sending address. That way there is no question whether it will make it through the postal system.

I've never used so much tape in my life! I feel bad for my partner who has to somehow find a way to open this envelope!
