Description:

For this swap series you will create 1 handmade 'Thank You' notecard + matching envie every month in the chosen theme.

You will also include a 'little something extra' in the chosen theme.

The notecard is for your partner to use, so leave it blank inside. Write a seperate note / sheet of paper for the swap info. Make sure the card and envie both correspond to the theme and each other. The envie does not have to be handmade, but it needs to be decorated and the card must fit in it comfortably. Just make 'em match.

The 'extra' can be store-bought (etsy counts) / handmade. 'Little something extra' ideas:

  • 1 bookmark
  • 1 ATC
  • 4 inchies
  • another notecard (any 'greeting' / blank)
  • 1 flat stuffie
  • 1 postcards
  • 1 small writing pad
  • 1 post-it notepad

You get the idea. Do not let the list limit your thinking. As long as it's quality and buggy, it's fine. Wow your partner.

January will be dedicated to insects. Not getting too scientific in definition. So butterflies, fireflies, spiders, dragonflies, ladybugs, etc.

This is sender's choice. You may suggest what you would like as inspiration in the swap comments, but rate fairly. I do not want anyone going crazy looking for 'the male one-eyed, rainbow fly of This-and-That Land' imagery. The more options you give your partner, the more likely they can go stash-diving and send you great things :)

Communication is key. Be fair and nice. We are all adults here.

What you need to join:

Min 4.95 rating. No recent 1's and 3's. Newbies welcome with well filled out profile and rated swaps. If your profile suggests that you are a constant late sender, give this swap a skip. It's one of my first 'public' swap and don't want drama. I will ban as I see fit. I will be going through profiles with a beady eye. Rather safe than sorry.

This is international, so allow for enough travel time. I would suggest 6 weeks as fair.

Feel free to contact me with any questions. If this goes well, I will continue with the series. Suggestions for future themes are welcome.

Summary:

  • insect theme for everything
  • 1 x handmade 'thank you' card and envie. Card must be handmade, envie can be bought and decorated. They must match.
  • 1 x low cost extra. Handmade or store-bought.
  • Make something great.
  • Rate your partner.

Let's have fun everyone :)

Must the something extra also match the theme?

17Papergoddess 01/ 2/2011 #

but I need a 'the male one-eyed, rainbow fly of This-and-That Land to match my female in hopes that they create a swarm of little 2-eyed rainbow flys which would elevate their status is This-and-That Land from endangered species to Now You're Just One of Us classis.

Oh awesome! Yay great first theme, I LOVE bugs, ESPECIALLY beetles!!!!

Jester777 01/ 2/2011 #

As far as future themes go, it might be nice to do a general Woodland theme, Flowers, Fantasy creatures, birds..

Mar1l1ze 01/ 2/2011 #

@LeishaCamden - sorry for the confusion hon. Jip - let's match 'em all. A whole lotta bug love! Will edit swap info to reflect that.

@17PaperIthinkImQueen - happy hunting nutbag! (Gees, who let this one in?!).

(We're actually good pals everyone - and she's pretty freakin awesome - just this side of crazy).

@Jester777 - ooh baby, now we're talking! If this goes well, I'll make Feb Woodlands.

So... which bugs tickle your fancy?

My partner can surprise me. You can even go gross / scary if you want to. I'm easy like that.

Gofeen 01/ 3/2011 #

Is it a general notecard which can be used for any occasion or is it a thank you card? It says both of these things in the description so I'm not sure but I'm thinking general?

Mar1l1ze 01/ 3/2011 #

@Gofeen - You have to do a Thank You card for the swap (it is a 'thank you' series) . You can choose to do a general one as an extra. Hope that helps?

17Papergoddess 01/ 3/2011 #

this side of crazy but with my nose pressed up against the glass edge....ooooh look! pretty bug! ( always check the back door- just in case it really Wasnt locked)... and when did I get demote to queen?....ooh! 'nother pretty buggie! What's in this Kool-Aid?

Mar1l1ze 01/ 4/2011 #

So... @17crazylady s partner - send her a shiny bug. That should keep her busy for a decade or two. And make sure the card is self-opening - wouldn't want her to hurt herself opening it up...

[Confiscates the cool-aid] "Holy Moly; this stuff's go...". [suddenly drools and zonks out in the corner]

17Papergoddess 01/ 4/2011 #

gliiiiiittterrrrr!! sparkly shiny glitter bugs.... kool-aid light weight! now she will see pretty buglies in her dreams...and through the back door we go, butterfly nets in hand...

Gofeen 01/11/2011 #

Doh! I need to read more carefully! ;>)

hollycm6 01/11/2011 #

I prefer 'nicer' bugs, if you know what I mean? Not cutesie, but that's fine, too... but the not-fearing-for-my-life kind, and the don't-make-me-want-to-barf type. Moths, dragonflies, ladybugs, crickets, grasshoppers, lightning bugs, katydids, all come to mind.... even non-gross-me-out-spiders...

hollycm6 01/12/2011 #

I need to drop out, but it is a LOVELY idea!! :) Have fun, ladies!!!

Jester777 01/13/2011 #

Moths are lovely too, and bumble bees, lady bugs, butterflies in odd colors.... I don't care for things with tons of legs though, they give me the hibbbbby-geebs!

Jester777 01/13/2011 #

So I'm a little confused now about the "Thank you" part of the card, haha. It's blank inside.. so where does the thank you part come in? I mean I don't send many thank you cards to be honest, and if it's blank you could send it as a general greeting card right? Haha, confused! We're not writing "Thank you" on it are we?

Mar1l1ze 01/13/2011 #

@hollycm6 - see you next month sweetheart :)

@Jester777 - No prob in asking :) By blank inside I mean that you do not write a note on the inside. Some people do that for swaps (they make the card and write something inside for their partner. the idee is that you leave it blank for your partner's use.

You can (for instance) stamp a 'thank you' on the front of the card. Like a greeting card with the greeting on the outside. Does that make more sense? a pic to show what I mean

You can make the inside better by glueing in a blank sheet of paper for your partner to write on if the card just doesn't cut it in your opinion.

I like large moths with interesting designs on their backs and strange or different butterflys (not the standard monarch) and large or weird looking beetles with crazy shaped heads : )

17Papergoddess 01/14/2011 #

open to pretty much anything :)
