Hi!
My name is Maria, I'm 21 years old and I'm from Barcelona, Spain. I'm currently studying Translation and Interpreting at a local university, and I speak 4 languages, currently learning my 5th :)
I really like my city, since it has a lot of beaches, beautiful mountains were you can go have BBQs, hike or even ski and snowboard (one of them even has an amusement park!). I also love all the history and culture it has, walking through the streets and being able to see old buildings beautifully decorated or just plain masterpieces like the Batlló house. It is a great city, and I'm grateful to be born here :)
I'm quite a girly girl, I love pastel colors in general, animals, lace, fashion... But that doesn't mean that I won't get dirty if I have to :p I love cooking and getting all messy playing with my uncle's dogs in the mountain. They are hunting dogs, so they play hard and often make me fall and roll in the mud xD At home I have a cat, that we adopted a year ago called Eevee. She's an europeana shorthair, with green eyes. I love painting her eyes with watercolors, even tho I'm a total newbie with them.
I live with my parents and Eevee at the moment, but this summer I'll move in with my boyfriend, I'll make sure to change my address here when I do! I'm an only child, but I never wanted any brothers or sisters, I always asked for a dog when I was little and people asked me if I wanted a little bro/sis. I'll always remember my grandma's face when I told her haha
At uni I'm also a volunteer in a student association called ESN, where we welcome all the Erasmus students that come to Barcelona and show them our culture, we introduce them to local people, organize tours and trips around the country, language exchanges... Basically what we do is make sure that they don't feel alone, since it's a common thing, when you leave your country alone, and have the best time possible :p I really like taking part of this, because you get to know amazing people from all over the world.
I've recently discovered postcrossing and penpalling, and I really like it! I have three penpals (from USA, Poland and Taiwan), and I love sending them customised letters. I've began to haul washitape, and even started a sample notebook. I wish I could send bigger packages, but in Spain the prices are very expensive (12€ just to send it + the price of the country it goes to), and since I'm a college student and my monthly pay is quite low, it's something I have to leave for special occasions :(
I used to read a lot, but now I've kinda left it at one side due to university and ESN, and since the library is a bit far away I can't commit to go on certain days, even tho this summer I'll try to get back to it. I only read books in physical format, since reading on my tablet or computer makes my eyes feel dumb haha My other interests are sending postcards and letters, as I already said, cooking, animals (bugs are the exception tho), nature, languages, spending hours on the Internet, playing videogames, painting with watercolors and watching Netflix non stop.
I don't have a certain type of music that I prefer, it depends on my mood. Normally what I do is let Spotify choose for me, and change to the next song if I'm not into it, because when I download songs I always skip them and I spend more time looking for a song to listen to than actualy listening to music haha
I love watching movies and shows on my computer whenever I can. I like any kind, except for the horror ones. What can I do, I love sleeping at night, and I'm a scaredy cat xD
I'm a huge fan of Disney movies, and I love watching them or looking for karaoke versions of them, because even if you sing very bad, it's a fun thing to do.
Normally I watch everything in the original version, mainly because I'm very impatient and I can't wait for two weeks until it's dubbed to spanish.
I'm currently watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Dance Moms, MasterChef (USA, UK, Australia... I don't really care xD), iZombie, Bones and whatever show that I might stumble upon.
I collect postcards from all over the world. They are mainly the postcards I get from Postcrossing, and ever tho they're always from the same 3-4 countries I really like getting them. I hope someday I can get at least a postcard from every country, but I think it'll be very very hard. But hey, that makes it even more interesting! I like written postcards, and I don't really care about the envelope.
My favourite kinds of postcards are:
I'll try to scan all the postcards I have and upload them to someplace to display them :)
I've made this paragraph so it's easier for you to have an idea of what kind of items I would like to receive :)
Though there aren't many things that I dislike, there are a few things that I really wouldn't like to receive:
