Branson is very safe so late evening activities/walking/running won't be an issue of concern. It's like a mini Nashville from what I know of it. Very touristy and lots of antique shops/malls. Silver Dollar City is a vintagey type of amusement park and then there's this duck ride thing that everyone loves. Early fall there would be absolutely fabulous so my fingers are crossed for you both!! ♥♥♥
