I am married. We’ve been married for 34 years this year. We have 5 adorable fur babies. Our two grey and white tuxedo cat sisters are Laverne and Shirley. Lenny is a marmalade tabby and Squiggy is a tortoiseshell. They are litter mates. Before we were educated about tortoiseshell cats, we thought Squiggy was a male. Boy were we ever surprised! Her name fit in with the rest, so we didn’t change it. And then there’s Bean. He’s a white cat with a black tail and a few more splotches of black here and there. He got his name because my husband says he’s marked like a pinto pony.
My favorite books are by Sue Grafton and Janet Evanovich. Before my Mom passed, she collected the first editions of the alphabet and the numbers series. I kept up with the tradition after she passed. Over all, my favorite books are cozy mysteries.
My favorite movie of all time is the original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. I refuse to see the remake. Every time I see a remake of a movie I think is great in the first place, I am very disappointed. Another outstanding movie for me was Mary Poppins. That was the very first movie my Mom took me to see at the theater. Yes, I am that old.
I have enjoyed the last two movies my husband and I went to see at the theater. The Darkest Hour and I. Tonya. I know, I know, I have a wide and varied appreciation for movies.
I enjoy many crafts. I am very into paper crafting. This includes rubber stamping. In fact, I won the blue ribbon for greeting card in the 2015 Kentucky State Fair! When I started rubber stamping I got wonderful "artsy" stamping instruction in Louisville, KY. Then, another stamp store opened up in Lexington. I got instruction there on a more "cutesy" level. I seem to find that most stampers prefer one over the other. But me, I enjoy both.
Recently I donated a bunch of supplies to my old high school. Until then, my friends would accuse me of getting ready to open a store! Ha!! Nope. Maybe I am an art supply junkie. Or a hoarder. That’s it, I’m probably a supply hoarder. Do they have a club or an app for that?
I crochet, and can knit simple items.
I like making jewelry. I design wedding invitations, make wedding card boxes, and decorations for weddings.
I am LOVING Zentangle, zen-doodle, ZIA, doodling, whatever you want to call it. And the new adult coloring book craze? Wow!!
Sometime this year, I am hoping to learn more about metal embossing, Pergamano, and whimsical lettering.
I try to make mixed media art. One day I may accomplish a project I'm proud of.
There is no way I could ever pick a favorite television show. I don't even think I could pick a favorite genre. I love TV. I always have one on in the house just for some background noise.
I don't like watching the news. However, I tolerate it so that I can view the local weather forecast. If you watch all of that sad, bad, violent stuff, it could make you a very unhappy person. (IMHO)
My favorite color is pink. Just about any color of pink will do. If I had to pick other colors, I think I would choose any of the jewel tones. Or maybe teals and aquas.
My favorite car is the Subaru Forester. I am on my fourth one. They have a very high rating for safety. The only drawback to these cars is the road noise.
My favorite thing to do each year is to go to Stampaway. This is a one day rubber stamping convention on Saturday, August 12th this year. 2018 is its 26th year anniversary!!! It is held at the Sharonville Convention Center which is just outside of Cincinnati. They have classes on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday before the convention. These classes are not just about rubber stamping. There are many different types of classes from which to choose. It’s all listed on their website www.stampawayusa.com. It's my "me time/get-a-way" for the last about 14 years or so.
This is a quick list of things I can think of, off the top of my head, that I would like to swap:
ATCs
Inchies
Twinchies
Whatever other size *chies anybody comes up with
Decorated envelopes (just about any size)
Decorated note card with matching envelope
Greeting cards (unsigned and with a matching envelope)
Zentangle on 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" or less
Hand-decorated background paper (8 1/2" x 11" or less)
Favorite quotes
New travel post cards from my town (Frankfort, KY). I don't have a preference to in an envelope or naked. I think I'd like to receive post cards showing fun tourist attractions, local art, or homes of famous people in your local area or state. I'd also like to make and receive some post cards if anyone is interested in handmade ones.
I have recently sent a bunch of stuff to my old high school, to their art department, that would have been perfect for swapping, but I might have a few of something someone is looking for. Contact me for a one-on-one swap if you're looking for anything in particular.
These are the themes and/or things on my list of "I'd just rather not" swap:
No religious things. (I believe. Enough said.)
No politics.
I don't sew, so I don't need anything in that line.
No candy or food of any kind.
I don't drink coffee or tea.
No pornographic materials of any kind.
I am allergic to some perfumes, so none of those please. Let's just go on to say no smelly items at all.
