My name is Christine. I live in Connecticut, and work at Taco Bell. I recently earned my associates degree in general studies from a local community college. Lately I've been in a sort of limbo. I can't seem to decide what to study next. I spend a lot of time reading or hiking with my dogs. I have a chocolate lab named Abby and a mixed breed named Willow. I love spending time with them and teaching them new tricks. I also volunteer at Beech Brook Farm, which is an equine rescue that cares for neglected, and abused horses, donkeys, and mules.
I enjoy a variety of music including rock, alternative, pop, r&b/soul, and some country, Some of my favorite artists/bands at the moment include Regina Specktor, Queen, Christina Perri, and Bare Naked Ladies.
I love stories and I love learning new things so I am almost always reading something. I tend to go through phases of obsession during which I will read a lot from one genre or topic, but overall my taste in books is quite varied. I like all kinds of fiction: historical, sci-fi and fantasy, thrillers, Gothic. I am a big fan of southern writers such as Flannery O'Connor and Z.Z. Packer.
I studied Spanish in high school and college and I fell in love with Spanish and South American Poetry. Jorge Luis Borges, and Frederico Garcia Lorca are two of my favorite poets.
I also read a lot of non fiction usually science. I am interested in astronomy and physics. (Although, my understanding of the subjects is minimal.) I also like biology. Books like "Killer Germs, and "Survival of the Sickest" were fascinating.
Occasionally I will read biographies or memoirs. I especially enjoy reading about the lives of revolutionaries. Such as "Death of a Revolutionary" about Che Guevara, Nelson Mandela's biography "A Long Walk to Freedom" and Gioconda Belli's memior "The Country Under My Skin"
My favorite TV shows are comedies: The Big Bang Theory, The Office, and Modern Family.
beading, scrap booking, paper crafts, I am just learning zentangle
I love postcards!! I can't get enough of them. I have never received a postcard that I didn't enjoy but I especially like the following:
-buildings (historical, universities, places of worship and meditation)
-city views
-nature and scenic views
-landmarks
-anything your town/city/ state/ country is well known for
-anything related to books, authors, or illustrations
-art and architecture
I prefer postcards written and stamped. ( unless the swap indicates otherwise.) The messages are my favorite part. I love reading anything about you, where you live, the places you've been. If you cant think of something I would love it if you drew a picture or wrote a poem you like.
-charms, beads (except for seed beads - I have more than I need)
-postcards
-blank note cards, stationary, letter sets
-stamped images on card stock
-patterned paper or card stock
-buttons (especially odd-shaped or decorative ones)
-coins from different countries
-articles or poems in languages other than English
-photos
-fabric squares
-bookmarks (store bought or handmade)
-surprises!
-nature themed items (especially trees, flowers, and birds)
-any handmade crafts or artwork
-favorite colors are blue and green (all shades) but there aren't any colors I dislike
-I love citrus scented or flavored things
-coffee, tea (hot or iced) , hot chocolate
-kawaii (although I can usually pass these items along so I don't mind if you send them.)
-licorice
-tasteless humor (anything that makes fun of someone's religion, race, gender, sexual orientation ect.)
I will not flake on you. If something does not arrive in a timely manner please contact me and I will gladly resend. Also, I really appreciate it when you rate my swap so that I know you have received it, and I commit to rating every swap I receive.

Thank you so much for angeling your poetry swap where my partner flaked. I like the poem you sent and I very much like your paragraph of thoughts about the universality of poetry. I hope you'll host other poetry swaps in the future.
