November 2024-- On the evening of November 7th I had a heart attack. It started as indigestion. Pain in upper chest, shoulders and upper back. After20 minutes pain radiated down my upper arms. I kept making excuses for it being everything, but a heart attack having a heart attack never occurred to me. The pain would ease up from time to time, and I would try to find a comfortable position to rest in the recliner. Being only 58 and approximately 180 pounds it just never occurred to me that it could be happening. My husband and son left for work the next morning I assured them it was fine, but by that time the fear was beginning to creep up that this was not just indigestion. They had only been gone maybe 10 minutes and I've begin to get nauseous and sweating profusely. I called my husband and told him to please come back and take me to the emergency room. He did that right away and I was in the emergency room by 845 Friday morning. The first EKG and bloodwork came back negative. They waited an hour and did it again and came back to tell me that yes indeed I had had a heart attack. I was admitted to the hospital and the next morning they put in a stent and a balloon/pump. Life is forever changed. I am thankful to still be here But I am still in shock, overwhelmed, worried, but determined to do what the doctor say is best for me. The cardiologist did a heart catheterization through the right wrist artery. That's my dominant hand. It makes it difficult to write or create anything right now, other than making messes because I'm trying to use my left hand. Please take care of yourself and be healthy! If you've read this, please post a note to my profile thank you so much!!!
July 2024- I’m back! I have missed swapbot friends so much! Repairs were made since last update but renovations were minimal so for now things are at least back semi organized so I can resume swapping.
May 2024- After all the recent rains and storms we discovered water in our basement. My craft room (swapping supplies) and girl cave is down there. After taking down all the dry wall and insulation we discovered we have a long vertical crack in the basement wall. So, everything is packed up and swapping is on hold for a couple of weeks.
Other than that....Things are going well and I am looking forward to warmer sunny days. Peace and blessings abound in your life.❤️
WELCOME! Thank you for stopping by to meet me.
Mimosagirl ...my Swapbot id has a connection to a tree planted in my yard. It was a gift by one of my sons who saved a small twig from the trash heap of a greenhouse/nursery he was working at when he was a teenager. He is now 34 and the tree is huge.
I’m a 58 yr old as of May 2024 and enjoy my life. I love gardening, history, art, Japanese gardens, spelunking through caves, and just about anything that I can get my body to agree with. I have good days and not so good. I’m not sure what I have other than arthritis. I started upping my vitamins and water that seems to have helped oh and reduced salt and sugar intake. Wish me luck! 😀 —Most types of music are interesting to me. I was a teenager in the 80s so I'm fond of pop/rock from that era. I like some bluegrass, older country, I enjoy listening to Japanese music, a little Kpop occasionally, and often spend my early morning time tuned into 1940's UK radio on the web. ——Speaking of 1940's, I am a huge fan of vintage (1930-1950) postcards, womens handkerchiefs, vintage style fashion, brooches, playing cards, food tins, Christmas decor, and just about anything from that era. I often watch 1940-50’s movies.
True stories about history and events. Currently reading :
2/7/24 : Naturopathy - Herbal Remedies (books from the library and online resources)
8/5/23 : Stories and Recipes from The Great Depression by Janet Van Amber Paske
9/23/20: Reading our Rural Missouri Magazine. You can access it on their website. Great recipes.
9/2/20 : I was given a stack of paper crafting magazines so I am enjoying those right now and watching tons of DIY youtube videos. With current events I can't get into a book it seems. I have a hard time staying focused and remembering what I have read. So....I try to just keep busy.
2/2020: Enjoying my sons Cricket magazine sub. 8/18/19: A Gathering of Days
8/6/19: Hero on a Bicycle - about a boy in Italy during the Nazi occupation.
I have all the Boxcar Children books and Hardy Boys, Stories about life during 1940's world wide, Survival Books, Gardening, Stamp collecting, Herbal, Word Search puzzle mags, & I have enjoyed reading many of Barbara Kingsolver books. My favorite being Animal, Vegetable, Miracle. As a child The Childcraft books by World Book were treasures.
Ponyo, My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service.... Sarah Plain and Tall, Anne of Avonlea , Mary Poppins, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, Seal Morning, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings , The Hobbit, The Last Unicorn, Little House on the Prarie, The Princess Bride.... Star Wars,....
Sanford and Son, Sesame Street, Andy Griffith, Dark Shadows, Bewitched, I Dream of Jeanie, But I don't actually watch TV anymore. Occasionally I will watch something on NetFlix with my son like Wild China or other nature or science program.
oh....
and sometimes BBC shows... Home Front, Land Girls, Wartime Kitchen, Foyle's War Currently watching Netflix episodes of Father Brown...funny and suspenseful.
I enjoy paper crafts like card making, Scherenshnitte, miniature book making, ATC,& now into making Memorydex Cards.
Memorydex swap information: I store my MEMORYDEX Cards in a tray/box system. So they can be tall but not much hanging over the sides. Thank you for considering this when swapping with me.
Ephemera:
Vintage ladies pattern envelopes, pretty/interesting playing cards, pressed coins, foreign currency, tea envelopes, matchbooks, vintage postcards, paper fans, old automotive advertising and fueling station promo, Hello Kitty, Strawberry Shortcake, Holly Hobby, Barbie, Anything from Japan, Russia, Germany, Sweden, Ukraine, Canada, ...... and cute letter stationary, small cute envelopes, .... just about anything 😁
Junk Journals are a favorite. The lacy, ribbon filled, lots of pockets and tuck spots, made from an old hard back book....I'm working on one for myself that is very girlie, with lots of lace, shades of pink/rose and ecru white. Vintage slightly creepy.
Current Obsession is kawaii stationary and letter swaps. I can't get enough of it. I do think it is spilling over into other areas of my life. I just finished painting my tiny office bubble gum pink! hahahahaa....
