One of my favourite English meals, it's sausages cooked in the oven with a 'Yorkshire pudding' batter that rises; served with vegetables and gravy. The batter is made with flour, milk, egg and water - simples!
Not one of my personal favourites, but famous here in London in the old Pie 'n Mash shops - often served with a parsley sauce called 'liquor' but I prefer gravy. The pie is commonly steak and ale, or steak and kidney, wrapped in a shortcrust pastry base and lid. Cooked potatoes are mashed with warm milk and butter, and usually peas and gravy or liquor are served on the side.
